In January 2018, Andrea and Joey separately ventured into Huntington Village with their friends and ended up at Finley's of Green Street. After a horrendous conversation, Andrea turned to the bar, and with a loud puff whispered, “finally”. Joey immediately leaned over her shoulder and asked, “Did you want me to step in and pretend to be your boyfriend to get you out of that situation?” To which Andrea sarcastically replied, “Well, it would have helped!”
Joey asked Andrea if he could buy her a drink- to which Andrea replied with an adamant, “no!” Joey (thankfully) did not take no for an answer. They spent hours with their friends chatting at the high-top tables and getting to know each other a bit. Andrea and her friends decided it was time to head to the next location, and Joey was insistent on tagging along. Andrea agreed, and they made their way to exit Finley's. When Andrea reached the outside, Joey was no longer behind her. She turned to her friends and said, “I guess I'll never see that guy again.” She chuckled and continued on with the rest of her evening.
The next morning, Joey managed to find her on social media and sent her a message. Andrea, being the skeptic that she is, didn't respond. As fate would have it, Joey accidentally hit the call button on the messenger waiting for her to reply. Andrea decided to finally respond to the message. After chit chat, Joey asked if he could take her on a true date to which he suggested her worst fear... all you can eat sushi. Andrea's favorite food is sushi, but she knows she couldn't eat sushi “like a lady” to save her life. Deciding to face this pathetic fear, she agreed and they had the best first date either of them could imagine. They spent the entire evening talking about their lives, families, careers, and more. Either of them would have been fine with the night never ending. They parted ways that evening but didn't stop talking except to work and sleep.
Fast forward 5 years including: Andrea's career change, Joey's 6 year internship, graduate school, electrical school, Andrea going back to school AGAIN for educational administration, adding 3 crazy cats, an amazing dog, a pandemic, countless Mets games, traveling to different parts of the country, growing as adults together, and more... Joey decided it was finally time to pop the question. On August 25th, 2022, Joey flew down to Tennessee, a day early, to surprise her at a steak house… flowers and ring in hand. He bent down on one knee, let her know that he couldn't imagine his life without her and asked her to marry him.
Here we are today, ecstatic to share their love with you. When they walked into Finley's on January 13th, 2018, neither of them had any idea it would be the start of the rest of their lives.
We can't wait to celebrate beginning the next chapter with you by our sides on June 22nd, 2024!
