Q + A

Is Mexico safe?

Yes. While the news doesn’t always paint Mexico in the best light Playa de Carmen, Rivera Maya and Cancun are made up of hundreds of vacation resorts that cater to visitors and American tourists. We have taken several trips to Playa de Carmen / Rivera Maya and have never felt unsafe. We also specifically visited Hotel XCaret last June and had a great experience. There is an abundance of staff and security at the hotel and the property is well maintained only allowing people who are staying at the resort on the property. All beaches at the resort are private as well so you will never encounter anyone who isn’t a guest at hotel during your stay. Should you have any more questions please feel free to reach out or reach out to Roberto Carrasco, a Mexican native who will be attending the wedding.

Do we have to stay at Hotel Xcaret?

Yes. While it may be tempting to look at other hotels or airbnbs unfortunately in order to attend the wedding you must stay three nights at Hotel XCaret. This is for both security reasons and specific pricing we were given. We do apologize for any inconvenience that may cause. Additionally, please book directly on our website not the Hotel website.

What is including with my stay?

Everything & more! Kidding but this place truly has everything. Hotel Xcaret is a five start resort and the food and drinks are some of the best we have ever had. Included in your stay is unlimited food and drinks (including all alcoholic beverages) from all 10 restaurants and 13 bars as well as 24 hour room service at no additional charge. We highly recommend you download the app "Hoteles Xcaret" to take a look for yourself at the amazing menus and dinning options. This resort prides themselves on the gastronomy at all of their restaurants and we promise you will be blown away by the food here. In addition to the food, round trip transportation to and from Cancun International Airport is included with your stay. Last but definitely not least, included in your stay is unlimited access to all of the Xcaret parks (Xel-Ha, Xcaret, Xenses, Xoximilco, Xenotes, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xavage) where you can swim with dolphins, visit cenotes and much more. Feel free to google the parks listed above and see for yourself!

What is not included in my stay?

Airfare is the main thing not included in your stay. Now depending on where you are flying from the prices can vary however February is the cheapest time to fly to Cancun / Tulum. At the time of answering this question (in July) prices from JFK to CUN are around $250 and out of BOS are around $350 to give you an idea of the flights costs. Additionally, there is one Michelin Star restaurant at the resort that is a separate cost (well worth the additional price if you ask us). We also suggest each person brings around $15-$20 to tip. Although tipping isn't required during our last stay here we would tip a $1 or so a meal and the people there really appreciated it and would go above and beyond service wise.

What is the pricing?

The pricing on our website can be a little confusing so hopefully this information can help. The pricing you see on the website is per person and varies based on the room type and number of occupants in the room. For example a Garden Suit with one occupant for three nights is $1,689 while a Garden Suit with two occupants for three nights is $1,362 a person, $2,724 total for two people. Unfortunately, the website does not calculate the total for you but you can do it manually or reach out to Monica at monica@yellowumbrellaevents.com who can email you the total. The prices you see on our website include all taxes and fees.

What are my payment options?

You may choose to pay the total all at once or pay 50% and the rest over the course of the next few months until November 15th. You can pay much as you want each month but the total is due by November 15th. You will get email reminders from the resort as well so don’t worry if you forget, they will reach out.

What if I don’t know who my plus one will be?

The best thing to do is book your desired room and add anyone else staying in the room after. The most important thing is locking in a room and then after that you may add as any guests (up to the limit that the room holds) until November 15th. Additionally, once adding a guest the pricing will be adjusted as well automatically. For example, for the Garden Suit for three nights with one occupant the total price is $1,689.00. If that person adds another person (two occupants) to their room then the price will be adjusted to $1,362.00 per person for a total of $2,724.00 for both people. If you add anyone after November 15th their amount will be due immediately and you will not be able to add anyone after December 1st.

What if I want to change a person on my reservation?

You may change the name and/or person in your room up until December 1st. After December 1st no changes can be made.
