Q + A

What is Mountain Chic Attire?

Picture this—comfort meets class under the mountain sky! Think cozy flannels or soft sweaters paired with dressy jeans or tailored trousers. Layer in some rugged boots or refined leather shoes to ground your look. Dresses in earthy tones, maybe with a denim jacket or a wrap, will fit right in. It’s all about blending elegant with outdoorsy, so you’re dressed for warmth and style as naturally as the scenery!

June Weather ☔🌿

June in the mountains brings refreshing rain, with highs around 76°F and lows near 53°F. As part of a temperate rainforest, our region thrives on this gentle rainfall—it’s what feeds our waterfalls, quiet lakes, and lush greenery. Unlike steamy downpours elsewhere, our rain revitalizes the air and stirs the rich scent of nature. So, pack light rain gear, embrace the mist, and celebrate the beauty it brings. There's no such thing as a bad rain day in the mountains!

Do I need to attend all the weekend activities, or can I pick and choose?

Jump in as much—or as little—as you’d like! Every activity is optional, so plan to join wherever suits your interests and pace. We’ll be thrilled to see you whenever and wherever you feel most comfortable!

All the waterfalls and hikes sound amazing! How do I choose?

You can’t go wrong! For sweeping views, Whiteside Mountain’s 2-mile loop is a top pick. If waterfalls are calling, start with Dry Falls for an easy, walk-behind-the-falls experience, then add on nearby Silver Run and Whitewater Falls. Mix and match for a day that suits your adventure level—you’re guaranteed a scenic day, whichever you choose!

How much does it cost to wade into the Tuckaseegee River for a fly-fishing adventure?

About $220 per person, which covers all the essentials you’ll need: waders, boots, a rod and a guide for every two anglers. Just bring your sense of adventure and get ready to reel in some remarkable memories!

What’s the cost to cast a line in North Carolina’s scenic streams?

For NC residents, a 10-day license is a catch at $16, or if you're here to stay, a year-long pass is $35. Out-of-towners can dip their rods in our waters for $33 with a 10-day license—well worth it for a chance at those mountain brookies!
