When Should I Get My Passport?

For first-timers, passports typically take 6-8 weeks after you fill out your application and a fee of $165. If you are renewing, it is $130. Expediting your passport is an option as well, which usually take 2-3 weeks for an additional fee of $60.

Currency and exchange points

The official currency in Taormina is the Euro, US dollars will not be accepted. There are exchange offices and ATMs at both the airport and in the town of Taormina for withdrawing cash. Additionally, many establishments in the area accept card, just remember to notify your bank about your travel plans ahead of time.

Uber and Taxis

Uber is available in Taormina, making it convenient to request a ride and travel within or to nearby destinations. Taking a taxi in Taormina is also an option. There are two taxi stations in Taormina, with the main one located on the main street, Corso Umberto, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Yes, Taormina is small town and almost all main sights, bars, cafes, restaurants, and shop are within walking distance. The town is situated on a hill, so expect some hilly areas while exploring. If you want to explore the more distant parts of Taormina outside of the city center, you will need either a rental car, taxi or Uber.

What is the best way to reach the beach?

Being that the town of Taormina is located on a hilltop, the most accessible way to get to and from the beaches is by cable car. The cable car station is called Taormina - Mazzaró Cable Car and located in Via Luigi Pirandello. The cable cars operate every 15 minutes and takes only 5 minutes for €3 each way.
