A Quick Update

Welcome to Vermont! It's looking like rain, so pack your rain gear, because the show will go on, rain or shine. Once you leave Brattleboro, you will not have cell phone coverage to be able to navigate to/from the venue or call for directions. If you are planning to drive and not use the buses, make sure you've reviewed your route ahead of time and bring a paper map just to be safe! Please see the tab labeled "A Note on White Barn Farm."

Our Wedding

On a cold February day, just before UD's 2015 Spring semester began, freshman Angela drove up to Newark for a low key girl's night at Alley's house, a new friend from her winter study abroad to Cuba. Josh, a junior, happened to stop by that afternoon to hang out, and even though he barely said a word, Angela found herself a little flustered by this cute older guy.   Later that evening, Alley and Angela were having some cheap pink wine and watching a movie in their pajamas when a group of Alley's friends, including Josh, barged in on their girl's night. Low key no more, everyone was animatedly talking about their winter breaks, spring plans, and listening to Alley and Angela's stories from Cuba. That is, everyone but Josh, who was sitting quietly on the stairs. Angela walked over, asked if he was okay, and thus began an 8 month long period of finding any excuse to spend time with each other but not dating.   Poor Josh was scared off by Angela's insistence that she was not looking for a relationship, and so he waited patiently, enjoying their late night library dates, Game of Thrones marathons, coffees at Central Perk, walks in White Clay, dinners on Main Street, and trips to Lewes Beach. By the end of September however, Angela had had enough of this guy taking up all of her thoughts but who didn't seem to mind their lack of a label. So, she made a dramatic and tearful exit from his apartment while he was away, determined not to be the first one to put her heart on the line.   Josh returned to find Angela and all of her stuff gone, and showed up at her dorm to rationally talk things through. What's wrong? he asked. I like you, a lot, she said. That's bad? I'm confused, Josh said, laughing. They took a late night walk through campus, and by the end, things finally became official, starting a new chapter of their lives together.   They made it through three years of working summer jobs 500 miles away from each other, a year of long distance as Angela finished college, three years of law school, a pandemic and related layoffs, the loss of their friend Alley, raising four animals, a move, and all the other ups and downs of dating during the first part of our adult lives.   Together, they grew and encouraged each other to keep going through it all and it was time to take the next step. Six years after that late night walk through UD, on the night of their 6th anniversary, Josh proposed to Angela on the balcony of their Concord apartment.

DIRECTIONS TO THE VENUE

Comfort Inn & Suites

There will be a school bus to transport guests from the hotel to the venue. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and not have to worry about navigating the back roads at night! THE BUS WILL DEPART THE COMFORT INN PARKING LOT AT 3:30 PM. If you'd prefer to drive yourself, there is plenty of parking at the venue. Please be aware that you will not have cell service to rely on navigation outside Brattleboro all the way to (and at) the venue. Plan your route ahead of time and pack a paper map just in case :)

Day-of School Bus Transport

All major airlines fly into this airport. It is under two hours to the venue, and 1:15 to the hotel in Brattleboro. The drive is also very direct heading north on I-91.

Bradley International Airport

MHT is a two hour drive to the venue, and 1:30 to the hotel in Brattleboro. Josh and I fly out of MHT whenever possible because of how easy it is. American, Southwest, Spirit, and United all fly out of this small airport.

Manchester-Boston Regional Airport

BOS is the closest major airport with the most flight options. It is 2:30 to the venue and just over two hours to the hotel in Brattleboro.

Boston Logan International Airport

PWM is three hours from the Brattleboro Comfort Inn. It's not the closest airport, but if you're looking to hit up the Maine coast while you're in New England, it might make sense for you. It's also close to a lot of where Josh's side will be traveling from. We're happy to help coordinate pick-ups!

This cute store has a delicious selection of baked goods and sandwiches. You can get coffee, beer, wine, and any essentials you may have forgotten to pack for the weekend. It's less than 10 minutes from the venue, and on the route to/from the hotel.

Drive 30 minutes west of the hotel for a scenic overlook, trails, and the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum.

Hogback Mountain Conservation Area

25 minutes from the hotel, Keene is a cute town to visit any time of year, but especially in the fall. This is where the original Jumanji was filmed, and you can still see the Parrish Shoe mural on the corner of West and Main St. At the end of every October, Keene hosts a pumpkin festival that's worth checking out if you're making a longer trip out of it, or if you come back to visit!

The White Barn Farm is along a rural road nestled among the mountains. Please be prepared, especially if it is raining or has recently rained. The State of Vermont just experienced one of its rainiest summers on record, so there is more roadwork going on as a result of flooding and washouts. This weekend is also the time of Newfane's Heritage Festival. It's right along Route 30 on your way to the White Barn Farm. Depending on what the weather's doing, this festival may contribute to some slowdowns. Because of the remote location, there is ZERO cell service in the area. Make sure you have downloaded your directions! I strongly encourage taking the bus so navigating is not a concern, but if you'd prefer to take your own transportation, below are some directions.
