Our story began at a West Village bar on a cold Monday night in January 2020. Anna arrived first, but was so nervous she called a friend and walked around the block and ended up being 15 minutes late, while Wes sat at the bar and pretended like he had important things coming in on his phone.

But despite a delayed start, they hit it off and soon were spending several nights a week together at various restaurants, bars, and comedy shows across Manhattan.

It seemed like nothing could stop them until a couple months later when a small, little-known virus started spreading called COVID-19. Being responsible adults, Anna and Wes decided to head to their respective home states for three short weeks while the virus blew over NYC. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned, so they spent the next three months in different states FaceTiming, doing virtual Netflix movie date nights, and trying not to go insane. Anna’s parents noticed that Anna had a habit of disappearing to her room several nights a week for these calls, while Wes kept it more covert and pretended like he was in the basement playing Mario Kart. Sadly, that story was extremely believable.

That summer the two reunited in NYC, and the rest is history. They’ve been in NYC ever since (across a few different apartments) and enjoy exploring all the amazing restaurants, running and playing tennis, Citibiking, following strangers’ dogs, and traveling up and down the east coast - basically anything to get outside of the 528 square foot apartment they share in Williamsburg.

Fast forward to last December, when after some coordination with friends and family members on Anna’s side, Wes put together a plan to propose. Anna claims that she didn’t know the proposal was coming that night, but also suspiciously said that she was “nervous” on her way to dinner, something that hasn’t happened for any other meals before or since. But the plan came off well, Anna seemed surprised (a bit?), and most importantly she said yes!

Since then it has been fun process planning the wedding, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all in Charlotte!
