Food? Yes please.

All of our favorite spots (that are open on the weekend), grouped by location, and in no particular order except distance from the reception venue.

THE IRON HORSE GRILL - American

In Downton Jackson. Its historic building, formerly a smokehouse, has burned down twice over the years and definitely inspires the menu of charcoal-grilled meats, seafood, fajitas and burgers. Live music on the weekend.

ELVIE’S RESTAURANT - European

In Belhaven. James Beard winner. Reservations for dinner recommended. European with seasonal fare made using fresh ingredients and a thoughtful attitude toward sourcing.

KEIFER'S ON POPLAR - Greco-American

In Belhaven. Connor waited tables here in college. Great patio, simple Mediterranean food with a American/Keifer's twist. Try the ham and cheese gyro and pita mozz!

CS’S - Burgers

Midtown. Open since 1978, this dive and its owner, Mr. Pat, have witnessed Anna & Connor's relationship through the years. It's a popular Millsaps and local hang-out. Try the Inez burger!

WALKER'S DRIVE-IN - Casual upscale

In Fondren. Consistently voted #1 Jackson restaurant for decades. Signature dishes include redfish Anna, steaks, po’boys and one of the best plate lunches around.

ZUNDO - Ramen

In Fondren. Pretty good ramen for lil ole Jackson. In-house slow simmered broth and house-made noodles. Tantanmen ramen is the move.

SAL & MOOKIE'S: PIZZA AND ICE CREAM

At the District in Eastover. Featuring a welcoming patio, and dough made from scratch daily. Family-friendly ice cream scoop shop that opens to an outside pickup window for after-school treats on good weather days.

BROAD STREET BAKERY - Deli

In Banner Hall. Indoor and outdoor patio, family-friendly with a bookstore upstairs.

APLOS - Lebanase/Greek/Pizza

In Highland Village. Great outdoor patio, counter service, fresh and casual feel. Happy Hour is seven days a week from 3-6 pm with half-priced pizzas and $2 Stella on draft.

In the suburbs, honorable mentions:

Yakinku for korean BBQ

Mr. Chen's for chinese + asian market

Zea's for ribs

Coffee Withdrawals?

Connor's favorites:

Urban foxes - Belhaven (has pies/baked goods as well)

Native - Belhaven

Other options:

Coffee Prose (bookstore too!) - Midtown

Cups - Fondren and Downtown

The Bean - Fondren (good brekkie)

Soule - Fondren (custom teas/coffees)

PJ's - Fondren

Grab a Drink?

MARTIN'S DOWNTOWN - Live music every Friday and Saturday night. S/o to the food as well. Just two blocks away from our venue.

FERTILE GROUNDS BEER CO. - Jackson's newest brewery in the up-and-coming Belhaven Town Center area. Bright and colorful, pet-friendly, with indoor & outdoor seating.

FENIAN'S PUB - Our favorite Irish pub with great food, just down the street from Millsaps College.

THE APOTHECARY - A speakeasy located in the back of Brent's Drugs in Fondren, formerly a pharmacy store room. Best cocktails in town.

FONDREN PUBLIC - Located in the Fondren district, F.P. is the Friday night spot for young professionals, known for its great beer selection, large covered patio, and cornhole.

FRANK JONES CORNER - The epitome of southern culture + blues, the Corner comes to life only after midnight.
