What's the dress code?
Our wedding is garden formal. Think floor length or tea-length dresses for women and suits for men (no tux required), and ties are encouraged. Please no jeans; keep it classy and dressy. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors on the lawn, and the reception will be in a covered barn. Since it’s June in Virginia, it may be warm, so light fabrics and comfortable shoes are encouraged. Ladies, flats, wedges, or block heels work best for the grass. We also encourage fun colors, floral prints, and spring-inspired styles to bring the garden party vibe to life.
When do I need to RSVP by?
Please RSVP by May 16th at the latest. This helps us finalize seating, catering, and transportation.
What time should I arrive at the ceremony on Saturday?
The ceremony begins promptly at 4:30 PM. Please plan to arrive early, park, and be seated by 4:20 PM. We recommend arriving about 20-30 minutes early to allow ample time for parking, mingling, and preparing yourself for the wonderful day ahead! If you arrive late, we kindly ask that you remain on the Tuscan Terrace to watch so the aisle stays distraction-free.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking onsite. The parking attendant on the property will be happy to assist guests with parking. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk to the ceremony lawn.
Is there transportation provided to and from the venue?
Guests are responsible for their own transportation. Please know that rideshares and taxis are very limited in the area. We recommend booking in advance if you plan to use a rideshare or taxi service. Carpooling is a great option, and above all, please don’t drink and drive. If necessary, you may leave your vehicle on the property overnight, but please note that all vehicles must be removed by 10:00 AM Sunday June 21st.
Are kids welcome?
We love your little ones, but this will be an adults-only celebration, so we kindly ask that you make arrangements for your little ones in advance and enjoy your night out!
Can I bring a plus one?
We wish we could include everyone, but due to space limitations with the venue, we cannot accommodate additional plus ones. Any additional guests or plus ones will be listed on your invitation.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors on the Tuscan Pond lawn, followed by cocktail hour on the Tuscan Terrace. Our welcome party Friday night will also be outdoors. The reception is in the Farmstead Barn, which is covered and mostly enclosed.
What is the weather usually like?
In Christiansburg around this time of the year, the average highs are in the upper 70s to low 80s, with cooler evenings in the low 60s. Summer showers are common, so a light layer or small umbrella is always a good idea. Should there be heavy rain forecasted, all events will be moved indoors. We recommend checking the weather a few days prior to ensure you are as comfortable as possible on the day of!
Where should I stay?
We’ve reserved a hotel block at the Hampton Inn Christiansburg/Blacksburg. See the Travel & Accommodations page for details. There are also bed and breakfasts, Airbnbs, and other hotels in the area.
What is the nearest airport?
Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is the closest airport, situated about 40 minutes from Christiansburg. It’s served by rideshare, taxis, rental cars, and pre-arranged car services. We recommend booking transportation in advance if you’ll need a ride.
What is the venue address?
Sinkland Farms
3060 Riner Rd, Christiansburg, VA 24073
What are the venue grounds like? What shoes should I wear?
The ceremony is set on a grass lawn and some of the pathways from the parking area to the Tuscan Lawn and Tuscan Terrace are gravel. We recommend comfortable shoes like flats, wedges, or block heels instead of stilettos.
I have an allergy or dietary restriction. Will there be food options to accommodate?
Yes. Our RSVP form will include a space to note allergies or dietary needs. We’ll have meat and vegetarian entrée options, plus some dairy-free and gluten-free sides and hors d’oeuvres. We also have ensured that all food offerings will not include pork, only beef or chicken. Catering staff will be available to help answer questions on site. Please note: all food is prepared in the same kitchen, so cross-contamination is possible.
Will there be alcohol served?
Yes, we’ll have a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available including beer, wine, seltzers, mixed drinks, soft drinks, and mocktails! Please enjoy responsibly and plan your transportation in advance. Please note that our bartenders reserve the right to request identification from guests who appear to be underaged and to refrain from serving guests who are extremely intoxicated.
Are there any events for out-of-town guests before the wedding?
Yes! Our welcome party is on Friday, June 19, from 8:00–10:15 PM on the Tuscan Terrace at Sinkland Farms. All guests are invited. Beer, wine, and light snacks will be provided and we look forward to this opportunity to start the celebration early!
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We kindly ask that you silence and put away your devices during the ceremony so that we can all remain fully present in this special moment. Once cocktail hour begins, feel free to take as many photos as you’d like!
What if it rains?
We hope this won't be the case, but we have a plan! Should heavy rain be forecasted, the ceremony will instead take place in an enclosed barn on the property, and cocktail hour will be moved to the enclosed reception barn. Please note that the short pathway from the enclosed ceremony barn to the reception barn is not covered, so we recommend bringing an umbrella.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
Yes! The parking area, Tuscan Lawn, Tuscan Terrace, and Farmstead barn are all short distances from each other and do not require guests to utilize stairs. We have on-site transportation available for our guests who may need some assistance. Please let us know in advance if you need on-site transportation from the parking area to the Tuscan Lawn, and we will happily arrange that for you!
Can I bring my pet?
Although we are huge animal lovers and would love for even our own cat Meso to attend our special day, our venue does not allow pets on the property. Service animals are allowed.
Will there be time between the ceremony and reception?
No. Since all of our events are being held at the same venue, we will move from the ceremony directly into cocktail hour, followed by dining and dancing in the barn.
I will not be able to attend. Should I still complete the RSVP form?
Yes please! We will miss you greatly, but we understand if you are not able to make it. We ask that you please complete the RSVP form and mark that you will not be attending by the RSVP deadline, May 9th.
Can I request songs at the reception?
We are coordinating with our musicians to have a playlist set before the event, so they will not be taking requests during the reception. However, there is a prompt on the RSVP form that allows you to request a song then! We would love some inspiration and will try to include as many of the requests as possible.
