What should I wear to the Wedding & Reception? Is there a dress code?
Yes, the dress code for our wedding is formal attire. Think floor length dress and suit with tie. The wedding is outdoors and the reception is indoors. Wedding will last about 45 minutes and reception will last 5 hours.
(Yes, we know there are those of you who want to dress casual all the time - there's plenty of places you can be casual the rest of your time in town.)
How do we get past security to get in the Arneson River Theatre?
Since this venue is in a very public area with 3 entrance points, Security will be blocking off this stretch of the Riverwalk. You will need a "Security code" to get in. The code is "#SayHelloToPirruccello".
Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?
Yes, we do have a hotel block at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. Please see the "Travel" section of our webpage where there is a direct link for the hotel's room block. We were able to negotiate a really good rate - we suggest you book early as this is a very popular hotel. If you have trouble booking, please contact Annelise so she can request more rooms, if available. There are other hotels along the Riverwalk but we did not negotiate room blocks with anyone else.
What will the weather be like this time of year?
March can be tricky with the average temps being 75 for the high and 52 for the low. Be sure to check the weather often, that week.
(We have had record high temps of 94 with lows in the 20's. We cannot predict the weather - just like the weather forecastor.)
Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?
The Wedding and Reception is within walking distance of the Hilton Palacio del Rio and Parking. If staying at the hotel, it is a 1 to 2 minute walk. From the closest parking garage, the walk is 3-4 minutes.
Wedding is at the Arneson River Theatre on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Seating is at the amphitheater looking across the river to the actual Arneson River Theatre stage. (Yes, this is the same stage you see in most travel photos for San Antonio and where Sandra Bullock strutted her stuff in Miss Congeniality.)
Reception is at the Jack Guenther Pavilion (at the Briscoe Western Art Museum) which is within walking distance of The Arneson River Theatre - just go across the bridge (Rosita's Bridge), turn left and walk about 75 feet. Reception venue will be up on your right at street level (river is on your left so be sure to not wander the wrong direction.)
Arneson River Theatre is handicap accessible from the Hilton Palacio del Rio by elevator. Going to reception, you will need to go back to the Hilton Palacio del Rio to take the elevator up to street level, then travel around the edge of the hotel and across the bridge on Market St. The entrance to the reception will be on the left.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, the wedding party will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests can head straight to the reception venue, where we will be serving beverages during a cocktail hour.
Am I invited to the rehearsal dinner?
Due to the space limitations of our venue, we unfortunately have to limit the rehearsal dinner guest list to those who will be playing a role in the ceremony. We apologize in advance to those who are not included.
This is a great opportunity to go visit one of the many good restaurants along the Riverwalk. Also, the Hemisfair Tower, is another great place to eat (and it has a "spinning" restaurant.) Reservations will need to be made.
What time should I arrive at the Arneson River Theatre for the wedding?
The wedding starts at 4:30 pm. Help us get the celebration started as scheduled! We recommend that you arrive an hour before the start of the ceremony to make sure everyone is seated on time.
Where should guests park? Is parking free?
If you brought your vehicle and are staying at the Hilton Placio del Rio, there is valet parking with the hotel. If you are traveling locally, there is a parking garage directly across the street from the reception venue at the Riverbend Garage located at 400 E Commerce St., San Antonio, TX 78205. You can enter the parking garage from both E. Commerce and W. Market St. Parking is not free. You can pay by credit or debit card.(Be sure to not leave any valuables in your car or keep them out of sight.)
Are there handicap accommodations on the Riverwalk?
Yes, there are several locations that you can access the Riverwalk. One of the access points is at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. In the foyer, there is an elevator that will take you to the Riverwalk level.
When is the RSVP deadline? Do I need to mail back my RSVP card?
Thank you in advance for sending your RSVP before February 15, 2024. You can mail back the card enclosed in your invitation. If you have a dietary restriction, please make sure to include that information. Please be sure to put your first and last name of everyone in your party.
Will dinner be served at the reception?
Yes, dinner will be served at the reception. If you have a food allergy, please make that notation on the RSVP card. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Where are you registered?
We are so thankful you will be joining us for this celebration of our love. While gifts are not expected, a link to our wedding registry can be found under the "Registry" section of our website.
Will transportation be provided between the to and from the hotel, ceremony and reception?
Transportation is the responsibility of our guests. There are taxi's and Uber to transport you to and from the airport. Once arriving at the Hilton Palacio del Rio, you will not need a vehicle until you are ready to go back home. The ceremony and reception are within a few minutes walk of the hotel and parking garage.
Do you have any recommendations for where to eat, points of interest or things to do?
The list is endless of great places to eat along the Riverwalk. There is everything including burgers, BBQ, Mexican food, steak, seafood, German, and Italian and in all price ranges. Some of our favorites are:
- Casa Rio Mexican Restaurant (oldest restaurant on the river)
-Paesanos Italian Restaurant
-County Line BBQ
-The Little Rhein Prost Haus
-Brenner's on the River Walk for steak
-Ostra for seafood
-Biga on the Banks for wild game
Is there a wedding hashtag?
Yes, there is!
"#SayHelloToPirruccello"
Any photos you post to social media using the hashtag #SayHelloToPirruccello we will be able to see!
Also, the hashtag is the "Secret code" to get into the wedding and reception venues.
