Bridesmaids
Katelyn Granger - Maid of Honor
I met Katelyn our sophomore year of college in a small Communications elective. We were both in the same Nursing Cohort, so I was physically with her for almost every class. As school became harder, we became study buddies, and the rest is history. She became my roommate our senior year, and when she flooded our whole kitchen two days after moving in...I knew she'd always be fun to have around. She is a true ball of energy, and the greatest friend a girl could ask for. Post college, we found our love for the pediatric patient population, and she's currently living her travel nursing dream in Denver, Colorado.
Meghan Brown - Matron of Honor
Meghan and I met through Katelyn, and we were project partners for an entire semester. From her teaching me how to read a glass thermometer, to sooooo many hours at the ULL library, she quickly became a lifelong friend. Whether it's studying, vacationing, or sipping on margaritas, Meg is someone I'll always want to have around. Our senior year, Meg was so focused on graduating and her studies, she swore she did not have time for relationships. Mason did not give up, and thank goodness, because they just got married, and moved to North Carolina to begin their life as newlyweds!!
Lilly Scruggins - Bridesmaid
For eleven years, it was just my brother and me. Then, Lilly came into the picture and completely changed the game. She is the true star of the show, and the entertainment that our family needed. She is fearless and crazy...everything I'm not, but that's what I admire most about her. She is keeping our parents busy with her softball and volleyball schedules, and is about to start her freshman year of high school. I have loved watching her grow up. I'm so excited to see what she does next, and she is the best sister a girl could ask for.
Sarah Hardin - Bridesmaid
The first time Patrick was going to introduce me to his family, I was so nervous. Then I met them, and fell in love with them immediately. I remember Sarah and I giggling about how I was a lot shorter than she thought I was going to be. Throughout the years, I got to watch her excel as she finished high school, and now she's about to be an LSU graduate. She is a very disciplined runner, and recently completed her second marathon in Washington D.C., with a personal record. She succeeds at everything she undertakes, and I'm so excited to get another sister.
Emily Hidalgo - Bridesmaid
I could write a short novel about Em. We grew up together. I met her in middle school at St. Ignatius, plaid skirts and all. We became close in eighth grade when we were the only two players on the volleyball team who could not serve, spike, set, or do anything really. We found our love for soccer together in high school, and she was my partner for every chemistry, calculus, and biology assignment. We went to the same college, and lived together for three years. Emily is one of the most creative and hardest working people that I know. She has a heart of gold, and anyone who knows her is better for it.
Bailee Lanclos - Bridesmaid
The true life of the party....I grew up a mile down the road from Bailee, and my dad was our T-ball coach when we were five years old. We met again in middle school, and I thought she was one of the coolest kids on the block. One of my favorite memories was her eleventh birthday party, and we literally stayed up all night long. We enjoyed high school together, and even lived together in college. Bailee combined her love for people as well as art, and is now a teacher in Lafayette. Anyone who knows her is bound to laugh, and I'm so thankful we got to grow up together.
Ashley Daigle - Bridesmaid
Ashley and I attended the same middle school, but she was a year older than me, so I wasn't cool enough to be friends with her until college. We quickly realized we were in the same graduating class, and we were hired by the same boss for an on campus job. There was a whole semester where we were physically together from sun up to sun down because we had every class together, and we were also co workers. We shared a lot of funny memories both on campus and off. She is one of the smartest individuals that I know, and a true firecracker. She is the definition of a cool girl, and has such a kind heart.
Groomsmen
Oscar Scruggins - Best Man
Oscar and I met freshman year at LSU. We were in the same pledge class at Sigma Chi. I met Annie through Oscar, and even got permission to ask Annie out on a first date from him (for those who do not know, Annie and Oscar are twins). Throughout college Oscar and I got closer and closer. On family vacations and spring breaks with the fraternity, Oscar was always there to have a good time and have deep talks through it all. Throughout Annie and my relationship, Oscar was supportive and has become one of my best friends. I could not have asked for a better brother-in-law.
Uluc Ozdenvar - Groomsman
Uluc and I met our freshman year of college through the LSU rowing team. We became quick friends with the same sense of humor. He is a jack of all trades whether it is rowing, coding, photography, or our regular gaming nights with Nash. He moved to Philadelphia after college, but that distance has not affected anything as we talk on the phone almost everyday. When it came time to propose, I knew I wanted him to take the pictures for our engagement so it was extra special having him there.
Brendan Hardin - Groomsman
Brendan had exactly two years of what I'm sure were quiet and boring until I came along. Brendan went to the United States Naval Academy. He is in Japan flying helicopters in the Navy. Even after deployments or times where we can't call or chat, we don't skip a beat. Brendan will not be at the wedding because he will be deployed, but it is still important to me that he was a groomsman.
William Derzaw - Groomsman
Derz and I were also in the same pledge class at Sigma Chi. When we first met, I realized I would never meet anyone with a bigger personality. Everything that came out of his mouth, true or not, was said with the utmost confidence. Derz knows everyone he has ever met like the back of his hand. Even though he doesn't often admit it, he is a softy at heart, and will stick with his friends until the end of the Earth.
Nash Bernhart - Groomsman
Nash and I also know one another from the rowing team at LSU. Nash and I became close when we lived together my junior year of college. Nash is a quiet guy, but when it comes to his friends, he can crack jokes with the best of them. Nash loves New Orleans, and has come down from Austin to visit many times since I moved here. Whether it is for Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, or the wedding, Nash doesn't need much of an excuse to come to Nola.
Ethan Wachtel - Groomsman
I met Ethan when he was rushing Sigma Chi as a freshman. Oscar and I were two of the first people to meet him, and we were big fans of the guy. Ethan got his bid, and when it came time to get a big, I was there. He was in charge of the finances of the fraternity, but will still hoop with the best of them. Ethan is one of the biggest fans of New Orleans, and started my love for the Pelicans.
Khoivu Nguyen - Groomsman
Khoivu and I have been friends since high school. We really got to know one another when we were in an economics class together. Khoivu is one of the smartest and most helpful people I know. We lived together freshman year of college, and I don't think I would have made it through without Khoivu always being there for me.
Noah Tyler - Groomsman
I love The Office, and Noah loves The Office. Noah and I met when we were pledging at Sigma Chi. We became quick friends, and have the same sense of humor and would crack up at the same jokes. Noah and I lived together when we were seniors, and would lose track of time joking around or watching our favorite shows. Noah followed his dreams, and is killing it in New York. The distance and timezones have had no effect and we still talk regularly.
