Deception Pass (20 minute drive from Anacortes) is the most visited park in Washington State all year! There are many options for kayaking, hiking, boating, and camping during the summer. Here are a few options:

Anacortes has a number of shops to browse, from boutiques and bookstores to galleries and gift shops, where you can find jewelry, fine art, books, locally made women's clothing and gifts. The main shopping district is centered on Commercial Ave from the waterfront up to 11th Street.

Step aboard this steamboat, and step into the past. The W.T. Preston was the last sternwheeler to work in Puget Sound and is one of only two snagboats remaining in the contiguous United States. Her crews removed navigational hazards from the bays and harbors of the Sound and from its tributary rivers.

Washington Park (next to Anacortes ferry terminal) sits on a peninsula at the west end of Fidalgo Island. The 220-acre city park features camping, a boat launch, day use picnic sites and a group tenting area. A scenic paved 2.2-mile loop road winds through the park’s forested hills and meadows with views of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains.
This hike/bike trail is a flat 3.3 mile one way blacktop trail that starts at The Port of Anacortes and ends at March Point near The Shell and Tesoro Refineries. The trail has great views of Mount Baker, Fidalgo Bay and lots of blue heron, especially when the tides are low.
