The year was two thousand and fourteen and Tinder was the cool dating app on the single’s scene. April happened to be visiting Santa Monica from New Jersey for a work related event and, well Jer lived in Palmdale and had to set a very large search radius on the dating app to have a snowball’s chance in hell of reaching distant eligible singles outside the desert. Not too surprising April and Jer happened both swiped to the “hot” side. Upon matching April immediately made Jer aware she wasn’t from the area (sad face) but wanted to meet some new people, grab a beer, and maybe some food. Since Palmdale had nothing interesting, Jer offered to meet her on a work night at the Library Ale House on Santa Monica Blvd. From what he could tell the date went extremely well, there was great chemistry, and great energetic conversation.

During their conversation:

- April asked, “Do you like to travel?”

- Jer responded, “Yes, I am actually going to Seattle in August with my guy friends.”

- April, “What! I will be there in August as well. Probably not the same dates”

- Jer, “Well I will be there August 15-17. How about you?”

- April, “NO WAY!! I will be there the same dates! Bullshit show me your itinerary.”

Jer quickly ran off to the bathroom and book his flight so he could show April that his story was legit. Just kidding, that would make this story terrible. By sheer coincidence, luck, fate, or whatever you want to call it April and Jer would be in Seattle on the same exact dates, but neither one of them believed it until they promptly pulled out their phones to show their itineraries and stories held up. Thinking he had all the positive momentum on his side at the end of the date Jer tried for a kiss and got the cheek (ouch fail).

Seattle is where April and Jer really connected and their first magical kiss happened! For the next year they did random weekend trips to Rockies to Ski, New York, Vegas, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Jamaica, and visited each other’s home towns. After the first year of long distance dating April took the gamble and moved out to San Diego to give full time dating a try. Fast forward 6 years later and now you are all here!
