As many love stories begin these days, ours started on an app. We have Hinge to thank for our relationship. Our first date was dinner and drinks - dinner was Ariane’s idea, and drinks was Allison’s, speaking to both of their characters. Allison was quite shy, but Ariane made sure that she left a good impression. After a few more dates of movies, dinners, bowling and more, we became an official couple.

All of this happened before “you know what”. But once COVID came, we started spending more and more time together, realizing that we should move in together. This was made especially clear due to the fact that we had a sweet dog son, Waffles, who needed more space than a one bedroom apartment and a small boxy studio. So we moved in together into our first grown up two bed two bath where we live today. We cook, watch movies, laugh, dance and live a great life in this home and knew we wanted to get married.

Our engagement was twofold. Allison was the first to propose. After a rainy but fun day at the Minnesota State Fair, we went to Manny’s Steak House for a delicious dinner. Allison was so nervous to ask but did it in her very Allison quirky way at the bar with a goofy grin (thankfully Ariane said yes). One month later it was Ariane’s turn. Unbeknownst to Allison, Ariane had re-done her grandmother’s ring and intended to use it to propose to her. On a trip to New York, Ariane and Allison went to a rooftop bar in Brooklyn to enjoy some snacks and a drink. One of their celebrity crushes, Joe Jonas, happened to be there with some friends. Ariane mentioned to him that she planned on proposing to Allison, which he was thrilled about. When Ariane returned to the table, she popped the question (Allison said yes of course). They later found out that Joe had been filming the whole thing, and was cheering them on the whole time. A drink or two later, they left the bar to go to the next location where a ton of Allison’s greatest New York friends were waiting to surprise her. Definitely the best engagement story we’ve ever heard, if you ask us.
