This love story starts with a friendship abroad. You see, one summer in college, Ariel decided to study in Pisa, Italy. Through this journey, she gained a life-long friend named Taryn. Over the years, Taryn and Ariel went through many life events together. One of those times came about as Taryn was preparing to deploy as a helicopter pilot in the Navy. Taryn, being the social butterfly of the pair, wanted to introduce Ariel to a group of her friends before she left town. A Game of Thrones night seemed rather fitting!

Well, the first Game of Thrones night was delightful. All of her friends were welcoming and fun. This handsome guy named Zan even brought everyone Pizza, which was pretty thoughtful. Then he invited the whole group (new girl included) to his place for the next episode! This time, Ariel got the opportunity to speak to this Zan character. Come to find out, she didn't want it to end.

It would seem he was thinking the same thing as he followed up with a couple messages, which turned into thoughtful and exciting dates, long conversations on the beach, endless boating memories, trips seeking adventure and eventually a fall into love.

On August 14, 2021, Zan proposed to Ariel on Butterfly Beach with their pup Fynn in tow.
