Ashley & Leo

Fall 2022 • Bend, OR

Leo and I have been in each others' orbit all of our lives. We may have been at sixth grade camp together, he was at my graduation, and my mom was down the street from his home weekly for years doing restorative justice work. Our love story all started with a swipe of a finger to the right and we knew then we were a match!

Somehow we found love during a pandemic AND on Tinder. A feat. Our first date was on Instagram video because I still had an Android (nearly a dealbreaker for Leo). And our first in person date was at Kate Sessions Park, where we talked for hours about everything from embarrassing stories of childhood to the qualities we wanted in a partner. We took a road trip within a few weeks of meeting each other, much to our loved ones' concern, but we each knew that this was it. To be fair - the hotel did not accommodate a 3AM check-in after our drive from San Diego. So we did have to sleep in the car, or attempt to because we were slightly concerned about safety and the cold. But everything turned out fine. We are very much alive and not murdered.

We are so different on paper, but it only serves to balance each other. Leo is such a grounding force, while I (literally) have my head in the clouds doing reiki. Leo does WWE with our dogs, while I am the one they come to (much of the time) to cuddle. The through line that makes this relationship make sense is that we are each other's person. It can't really be explained other than it is unexplainable. As love is.

In the time we have known each other, so much has shifted in both of our lives and in the world. To be able to plan a wedding during these trying times feels like a blessing. In 2022 both of us will turn thirty, we will be moving to Oregon, and we'll be able to share a super important day with the people we love! We are so excited for this wedding and to *officially* be family.
