Ashley and Matthew met while attending college at SUNY Cortland through the Beauty and the Beast gymnastics/wrestling competition in 2017. They began officially dating in July of the same year and went on to spend the rest of their Cortland days together attending mixers and formals, taking classes together, and supporting each other in their respective sports. Matthew graduated in 2019 and Ashley in 2020, both with Bachelor of Science degrees.

Following their time at Cortland, the two were accepted into Physical Therapy programs. Ashley attended Saint Joseph's University and Matthew attended SUNY Upstate Medical University. The years spent studying at their respective schools were filled with frequent visits between their two new cities. Matthew graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2022 and Ashley graduated with her Doctorate degree in 2023.

After both Ashley and Matthew finished up their schooling and became Doctors of Physical Therapy, the two moved into the Philadelphia area. With over six years spent dating, Matthew finally popped the question on a special weekend getaway at The French Manor Inn and Spa located in the Poconos. Since becoming engaged, Ashley and Matthew have enjoyed their time together planning for the wedding, trying new restaurants and breweries throughout the Philly area, and spending time with family and friends.
