Our Wedding

It had just turned the New Year, the start of 2024 and the beginning of our story. The year that leads us to each other, the year I found my Shawn-Shawn, the love of my life and best friend all in one.I had just gotten back to Kansas City from a NYE trip in Nashville. Little did I know what was about to happen, but all it took was a prayer. It was the start of everything. The thoughts, the swipes, and the faith that all things happen for a reason.I had given up on love. I was worried I was too old, it was too late, and I'd always be alone. I was home for the holidays; upset. All I wanted was a guy best friend, so I thought, but I secretly longed for more. With a guarded heart, I was done being by myself.Wishing, praying, and hoping for someone to do life with. Someone to cozy up on the couch with hot chocolate and a movie, someone to cheer on the Chiefs with and watch the playoff games together, someone to go to the gym with, and pushing each other to the best versions of ourselves. I wanted my forever person and it seemed like it was becoming further and further out of reach. I was ready to get out of Kansas City, I had my bags packed, ready to move to Nashville in February, start a new life, and see what distractions I could use to fill the void.Then comes my dad, doing what fathers do best. He was there to cheer me up and tell me that everything would be okay. My dad was there for me, praying over my life and asking God to provide me with the kindness and love that he was blessed with in his marriage. He knew that my upcoming 30's would be the best years yet. I would find my other half, he would shower me with love, we would get married and start our family.I'll give it a try. One more time. It's not like things could be any lower, than they already were. I started swiping, disliking most, but dissecting the profiles that peaked a slight interest. Then, there he was. A man posed with his grandma. His bright blue eyes and soft smile. Was this someone who cared for family as much as I did? We will see... *match*Not only did he live up to my expectations, but he was the man I never knew I needed. He was genuine, protective, and honest. I felt comfortable, safe, and he was just the person I needed to keep myself on the right track. We bonded over gym dates, post workout meals, UFC, and the thrill of the Chiefs playoff season. It was almost as if the world was conspiring in our favor. We realized that our past had been weaving us together since college. We would spend entire days laughing, the events were more than memorable, and our teams would never lose. We quickly knew we were each other's "good luck charm' and this relationship was special.Each moment molded us into our fairytale life that we never realized was on the horizon. I remember when Shawn first met my mom, like a true gentleman he brought her flowers, but the flowers kept lasting and wouldn't die, mom walked past them and looked at them, she felt the Lord tell her, "This relationship has life".From the first day we met to the moment I said yes, we could tell our love was extraordinary. That instant connection and unexpected-unconditional love is what makes our relationship flourish. We are blessed to be surrounded by so many who molded us into who we are today, joining together and celebrating the newest beginnings of our relationship.Thank you for being a part of our story. Take the streetcar to this cute little (big) market! Catch it on a Saturday or Sunday for an array of local vendors. You name it, they have it: Anything from fresh cut flowers, art, and vintage tees. The perfect place to pick up your KC souvenir!

City Market

This free monument is the perfect place for a walk. (Check out the bench where Tom proposed) If you get to KC early or stay late, check out the museum.

National WWI Museum and Memorial

Down the hill from the memorial lies the beautiful Union Station. With rotating exhibitions and the occasional pop up art fair, it's worth checking out! (There are also free restrooms, BTW)

The Nelson Adkins is one of the most beautiful buildings in Kansas City. Spend the morning grazing the various art exhibits and appreciating the beautiful architecture of this KC gem.
