Just walking distance from the hotel, and one of our favorite brunch spots in Snowmass, Big Hoss Grill has some great food paired with an excellent view.
The Lost Forest isn’t hard to find — it’s just hard to see. Tucked in among the trees and rocks at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola are the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, Treeline Trial Challenge Course, and Rugged Ascent Climbing Wall. In addition, the Lost Forest operates as a home base for fishing, hiking, and disc golf. The Lost Forest is open daily from June 21 through September 6, then weekends September 10 through October 3.
Maroon Bells is a scenic area for all tourists to visit, and is a must if you are traveling to Aspen. There is a reservation system in place if you want to visit, so you will need to reserve in advance. There are many trails and a lake area for people to visit. The fall foliage is beautiful around this area.
There are many shops, food and art exhibits in downtown Aspen. Sometimes there are games in the Central Park of town. Check out Hotel Jerome, The St. Regis and the W hotel, where we stayed on our first trip as a couple! There is a speakeasy hidden bar in The Little Nell, but you need the current password to get in. Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar was the first bar we went to in Aspen as a couple, and has great drinks and a vibrant atmosphere. Finally, one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Aspen is The Monarch Steakhouse, and a great brunch place is Poppycock's cafe, but be careful if you ask for Sugar Free Syrup, because they will charge you $4 extra!
The Aspen Golf Course is between Snowmass and Aspen, about a ten minute drive from our resort. It offers open play, and 9/18 holes. There is also a restaurant on course.

Both Aspen and Snowmass offer gondola rides during the fall months, and are usually free to ride. Take advantage of these rides to go sightseeing, view the trees and mountainside and eat at restaurants at the top of the lift.

Aspen's Tipsy Taxi keeps all of us - locals and visitors - safer from the devastation caused by drunk drivers by offering a free ride home to anyone with no other way to avoid driving drunk. The program operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and in its 40 years of continual operation, it has given more than 20,000 safe rides home. Since the inception of Tipsy Taxi in 1983, deaths caused by drunk drivers have gone down and stayed down!
The Pitkin County Sheriff's Office administers Tipsy Taxi and provides services to our community through a cooperative working relationship with the Aspen Police Department and the hospitality industry. The program enjoys enormous support, as shown by all the donations from every segment of the community. Anyone needing a Tipsy Taxi can get a voucher for a free safe ride home from any bartender or peace officer.
Aspen's Tipsy Taxi has served as a model for similar programs throughout the United States and Europe. For more information, contact Ellen Anderson at 970-618-1515
