See below for some ideas of how to spend your free time during your trip! Brian and I have added some activities, restaurants and coffee spots that you may be interested in trying! Most of these spots are more in the Locust Valley, Glen Cove, and Oyster Bay areas (all within a 30 min drive). We aren't as familiar with the Roslyn area, where some of you may be staying in the hotel block, but feel free to explore Roslyn as well as it is a beautiful town!
Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, which includes the Coe Hall Historic House Museum, is an arboretum and state park covering over 400 acres located in the village of Upper Brookville in the town of Oyster Bay, New York. Visit here if you're looking for a nice relaxing stroll through some beautiful gardens! It is $8 per car, and if you're interested in a tour, its an additional $10.
Sagamore Hill was the home of the 26th president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, from 1885 until his death in 1919. It is located in Cove Neck, New York, near Oyster Bay on the North Shore of Long Island, 25 miles east of Manhattan. There is also a lovely trail: Sagamore Hill’s nature trail leads to scenic water views of a salt marsh and beach.
Visit this museum for a fun indoor activity! Exhibits change frequently so make sure to check ahead of time to see if its something you'd like to see!
Looking for a classic NY bagel? Look no further than the Long Island Bagel Cafe! You can't go wrong with a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on and everything bagel, a true NY staple. Just a warning, the line can be long! But the food is worth the wait!
Looking for a sit down breakfast spot? Glen Cove Diner is the place to go. The Challah french toast is top tier! You can pretty much order anything you can think of at this spot.
Want to grab a quick coffee! Check out Southdown Coffee in Glen Cove!
This is our go to coffee spot! The cappuccino is the best in the area!
Enjoy a lovely meal or drink on the beach! The view is just as good as the food! Warning: This place can get really busy on the weekends!
This is Brian's go to pizza place on Long Island! The Buffalo slice, the grandma slice, and the penne alla voldka slice are 10/10! But you can't go wrong with any of the slices if you're wanting a true NY pizza experience.
Come to this spot if you're looking for a nice cold beer!
