Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

22 SW 3rd Ave, Portland, OR 97204, USA

The shop itself is a reflection of Portland's quirky charm, with an atmosphere that's as delightful as the doughnuts. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the irresistible scent of freshly baked pastries, and you'll leave with a bright pink box full of sugary goodness.

A staple in PDX, where doughnuts are elevated to an art form, and flavor knows no bounds. Imagine a doughnut that tastes like a stack of pancakes with crispy bacon on top, or one shaped like a voodoo doll, complete with a pretzel "pin" for good measure. At Voodoo, they've turned doughnut-making into a culinary adventure.

It’s not uncommon for the line to wrap the block and a long wait is all but guaranteed during the weekends. Try to get there at opening hour to avoid the wait, however, even if you’re forced to wait I can attest that these biscuits are worth it.

Don’t leave without trying the Reggie Deluxe, it’s my favorite breakfast sandwich in Portland.

Pittock Mansion

Perched atop Portland's West Hills, the Pittock Mansion reigns as a historic gem and a testament to the enduring elegance of the Pacific Northwest. With panoramic views of the city and the surrounding natural beauty, this iconic mansion is a place where history, romance, and breathtaking vistas converge.

Reel M Inn

Welcome to Reel M Inn, where the fried chicken is so good, you'll willingly wait 45 minutes for a date with crispy, golden perfection. But here's the kicker: while you wait, you can try your luck at video poker, sip on ice-cold beers, and uncover one of Portland's best-kept secrets. It's the kind of place where fried chicken dreams come true, and where your taste buds will thank you, even if your poker skills don't!

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden

Nestled between a college and a golf course, the garden is lush and sprawling, home to more than 2,500 rhododendrons. Spurting fountains and meandering trails diversify the many ways to see the flowers. To some in Portland, the garden remains a secret—overshadowed by the city’s famous International Rose Test Garden. Surrounded by the waters of Crystal Lake, the garden also serves as a waterfowl refuge. Ducks and geese frolic in the lake, and red-winged blackbirds and scrub jays perch in the trees.

Wednesdays: 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Admission is waived on Mondays, though donations are encouraged.

What is the best time of year to visit?

Peak rhododendron bloom happens from late April to early May, though rhododendrons are in bloom from late February through July.

Jacqueline

2039 SE Clinton St, Portland, OR 97202, USA
(503) 327-8637

Your journey at Jacqueline might start with the allure of a $1 happy hour oysters, a rare find that's worth every penny. But what keeps us coming back is the inviting ambiance and a menu that dances with bold, yet harmonious flavors. Take the lobster buns, for instance (also not to be missed!!!). Picture this: buttery lobster meets zesty yuzu aioli, and a hint of spicy excitement courtesy of Thai nam jim. It's a taste explosion that'll have your palate doing a happy dance.

And here's a little insider pro tip: if you're on a mission for those dollar oysters during happy hour, arrive early (1 hr) and be prepared for a wait in line – trust us, it's absolutely worth it.

Cibo

Picture of Cibo
3539 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202, USA
(503) 719-5377

Let's talk about Cibo – our beloved Italian haven in town, where countless first dates unfolded, and where you're in for a culinary treat.

Now, here's the secret sauce: during happy hour, be sure to dive into the spicy spaghetti – it's a flavor explosion. And their cocktails? Spectacular. But here's the kicker – their pizza is colossal! It arrives with a pair of scissors instead of a typical pizza cutter. Cutting through a pizza with scissors? It's both comical and surprisingly efficient. You've got to try it! And if you're in the mood for classic Italian, their bolognese is a must-order.

While you're here for our wedding, make Cibo a must-visit stop. It's not just a restaurant; it's a part of our love story, and we can't wait for you to savor the deliciousness and create your own cherished memories!

Cascading gracefully from a towering height of 620 feet, this iconic two-tiered waterfall is not just a natural wonder but a symbol of enduring love and awe-inspiring moments.

A visit to Multnomah Falls is like stepping into a fairytale. The falls are framed by thick, emerald-hued forests, with a picturesque stone footbridge spanning the lower tier, giving guests a front-row seat to nature's grandeur. The cool mist carried by the falls refreshes your senses as you gaze upward at the pristine waters tumbling from ancient cliffs.

East Side Deli on Hawthorne

4626 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97215, USA

Insider tip: order the Italian sandwich!!! It's a flavor-packed masterpiece that'll transport your taste buds straight to Italy.

Picture this – layers of deli meats, fresh veggies, and zesty condiments, all nestled between perfectly baked bread. It's the kind of sandwich dreams are made of.

But East Side Deli is more than just incredible sandwiches; it's a slice of Portland's eclectic food scene. The casual, laid-back vibe makes it a perfect spot to refuel during your adventures in the city.

A Roadside Attraction

1000 SE 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97214, USA

Allow us to introduce you to a Portland gem (and Tedd's old haunt) – Roadside Attraction. This place holds a special spot in our hearts as it's where Tedd's mom taught us both how to play cribbage!

Apart from the delicious food and drinks, Roadside Attraction boasts a unique atmosphere that's quintessentially Portland. It's a hub for local culture and creativity, making it a must-visit spot during your stay in the city.

Nong's Khao Man Gai (SE)

Picture of Nong's Khao Man Gai (SE)
609 SE Ankeny St C, Portland, OR 97214, USA
(503) 740-2907

When we tell friends about Nong's Khao Man Gai, we describe it as "life-changing chicken." They usually don't believe us when they realize it's a counter-service restaurant.

But you'll understand the hype after a single bite of this iconic chicken and rice dish. It's simple but flavorful. The sauce it serves on the side is so popular, the restaurant started bottling it and selling it to-go.

There are a few other menu items at this Thai restaurant, but we can't help but order the chicken every time.
