Pescara is on the Eastern coastline of the Italian Peninsula, along the Adriatic Sea. It is located in the central region of Abruzzo, known for its landscapes of beaches, hills, and mountains.
For those traveling from New England, there are good deals on flights from Boston (Logan Airport) to Rome (Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport). From there you can rent a car, take a bus or train to Pescara. The drive from Rome to Pescara is very scenic through the thickest section of the Apennine Mountain Range.
There is also a regional airport in the city of Pescara where you can fly into. Although this option may be more convenient, it does not necessarily save on time.
Once in the city of Pescara, if you rented a car you can return it at the regional airport or choose to keep it for your stay. There is also public transit available or taxi services.
We have arranged transportation to and from wedding events from Hotel Regent (see below for more details). This will be in the form of private buses. There is also plenty of parking space at the venue for those of you who want to drive in.
Founded in the early 20th century, seaside Pescara is the most populous city in the region of Abruzzo. Heavily bombed during WWII, it’s a great example of a modern Italian town that was able to pick up the pieces, post-war, and reinvent itself.
Located along the Adriatic Sea at the mouth of the Aterno river, Pescara is popular in summertime thanks to its ribbons of sandy beaches lined with stabilimenti (private beach clubs), eateries and pop-up bars. There is a sprinkling of public beaches up and down the almost 20km stretch of coastline where you can spread out a blanket and plant an umbrella for free.
Besides the beach, Pescara has one of the largest and busiest ports and marinas in Abruzzo, as well as historical and art museums, a centuries-old cathedral, lots of dining, shopping and a buzzy nightlife.
