Our Story

Finding Love in a Concession Stand

Picture of Finding Love in a Concession Stand

Let’s be real here, Brian is not the writer in this duo. So, instead of writing a little paragraph pretending like we’re both coming up with cutesy adjectives, I’m going to take you through the journey that was our initial meeting, Bailey Bailey style.

Brian and I (officially) met in January of 2016 at Showbiz Cinemas - the elusive two-screen movie theater in Orange, TX. I played it super cool, coming in after hitting the gym with that post workout glow 💅. Brian had just began his first shift with our ~9 person team, and he was learning the ropes of our concession stand (which, by the way, once grew a little corn plant because a popcorn kernel got lodged in between one of our cracked tiles by the sink that just so happened to leak every time we used it, creating the perfect environment for life). I, a veteran employee of the theater, was volunteered to show Brian how to use the chili and cheese machine for our $1 hot dogs.

“Sure,” I said. “No prob.”

In showing him the process for refilling the chili bag, I accidentally covered the pour spout and was confused as to why the chili wasn’t coming out whenever I pressed the pour button.

“Huh, that’s weird,” I said.

It was then the chili began rapidly pouring out of every hole of the machine. I panicked and cupped my hands to catch the burning hot chili lava as Brian cried laughing. This was less than an hour after we met.

What Brian didn’t know in that initial meeting was that he was my high school celebrity crush. Brian, being a star soccer player with an American Eagle wardrobe, had 14-year-old Bailey dreaming of being “Bailey Bailey” since 2013 (even to the extent of asking Maya to hook! me! up! (Also, manifestation works people)). Brian also didn’t know that a week before his start that I was squealing to my friends in the car about how excited I was for him to work with us. I hope this explains the chili incident.

Sure, Brian is real looker, but I never knew how much I liked him until I witnessed first hand what a compassionate and giving person he is. Brian’s heart is as big as the Texas sky, and he would do anything to help anyone. Working together, you get to see parts of someone you don’t usually see. How they treat and serve others, how they treat someone who is on their team, how they react to stressful situations, and their work ethic. It’s safe to say my heart grew fonder after every shift and crew hangout.

About 6 months after our initial meeting Brian held my hand during the Showbiz staff Finding Dory midnight premier (good one bb), and the rest is history. I don’t think I remember a single thing about that movie.
