Feeling Active: Hikes & Walks

Walkway Over Hudson

(Poughkeepsie, NY 15 minutes west of New Paltz; 5 minutes east of Poughkeepsie) -Converted rail crossing over the Hudson River. Great views of the Hudson and HIGHLY recommended-Accessible by both West (Highland) and East sides (Poughkeepsie) of the river -$5 entry per vehicle

Bear Mountain State Park

(Bear Mountain, NY- 50 Minutes South of Poughkeepsie)- Great hike that we do almost every year, that is fairly easy, and includes amazing views of the valley. Good spot for a picnic with lake views and more!

Minnewaska State Park

(Kerhonkson, NY about 15 minutes west of New Paltz) - Over 50 miles of trails with terrain for all levels. Need to drive here!

Lemon Squeeze Hike at Mohonk Preserve

(Gardiner, NY about 15 minutes west of New Paltz) -Good for people that want a longer hike and more of a challenge.

Oktoberfest

(Bear Mountain, NY- Anthony Wayne Recreation 50 minutes south of Poughkeepsie) Yearly festival with HUGE beers and food. We go every year, and is a good time to simply hang out and play cards! Beware long lines and longer travel.

Tuthilltown Spirits Distillery

(Gardiner, NY) Whiskey, rye, vodka, and gin produced. Tastings and tours.

Hudson Valley Brewery

(Beacon, NY) Very popular NY brewery with long lines for can releases that specializes in sours.

Blue Collar Brewery

(Poughkeepsie, NY) Local brewery that has solid beer and nice play to hang out!

The Derby

(Poughkeepsie, NY) Local bar with beer/cocktails and bar food.

Storm King Art Center

(30 min south of New Paltz)

-500 acre sculpture park over rolling hills and through woods on crushed gravel paths. Tram tours available

Dia: Beacon

(35 minutes south of New Paltz; 20 minutes south of Poughkeepsie)
-Contemporary, large-scale art in an old biscuit factor. Stunning
-Beacon is a great town to explore if you visit Dia: Beacon.
