The Funk Zone is a unique Santa Barbara arts, culture, business, and industrial district between State Street and Garden Street, and Montecito Street to Cabrillo Boulevard. This amalgamation of historical marine structures, industrial lots, and houses has a unique history in manufacturing, lumber, citrus, produce, and fishing. Over the years, many artists have found creative freedom by carving out studio spaces in this “funky” area of Santa Barbara, and so have wineries, restaurants, art galleries, and shops.
Stearns Wharf is a pier at the cross section of the end of State Street and Cabrillo, in the harbor in Santa Barbara, California, United States. In 2007, a group of eight like-minded winemakers decided to come together to create the Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail. Their goal was to offer both novices and aficionados the opportunity to learn about and taste the wines of many different varieties and styles crafted from the County’s best vineyards. Thirty-one wineries now make up the renowned Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail. We’ve numbered them in the order they joined the Trail.
Stroll the Trail by foot, hop on a shuttle, ride a bike, or catch a ride-share. Along the way you’ll be able to enjoy shopping, casual sidewalk cafés, and superb restaurants. Each of the Trail’s neighborhoods is easily identified by its color so you can quickly find your way to your next tasting experience. We’re pretty sure you’ll agree that wine tasting on the Urban Wine Trail is one of the best things to do in the Santa Barbara area!

Madame Ganna Walska, a well-known Polish opera singer and socialite, purchased the Montecito, California estate in 1941 and spent the next 43 years creating Lotusland, today recognized as one of the ten best gardens in the world. The spectacular collections of exotic plants on the 37-acre property are a personal expression of Walska’s penchant for the dramatic, the unexpected, and the whimsical. Lotusland is home to several extraordinary plant collections and around each corner there is a surprise of unique garden design and plant species. After her death in 1984, Lotusland became a nonprofit botanic garden and opened to the public in 1993.
The 100-foot Tangerine Falls blooms into the most beautiful waterfall in Santa Barbara. The seasonal waterfall dries out for much of the year, but is spectacular at the peak of the rainy season. The 2.5-mile excursion to Tangerine Falls has 875 feet of elevation gain and everything a hiker could want — a soothing creek, plenty of shade, ocean views, and even a bit of off-trail rock hopping and scrambling (not to mention an exceptional waterfall).
