Things to Do

Recommended Activity: Walk around Balboa Island

Explore the charm of Balboa Island on this one-mile walk around the perimeter of the island. With beach cottages on one side of the promenade and boats on the other, there is plenty to see.

To begin the walk, continue down Marina Avenue until you reach the harbor. Then turn right (or left) onto the paved walkway. The promenade loops around the island and will lead you back to where you began. Enjoy!

Recommended Activity: Explore shops on Balboa Island

The picturesque, historic shopping district of Balboa Island is located along two blocks of Marine Avenue.

Beckie + Justin recommend trying a chocolate dipped cheesecake from 'The Original Frozen Banana.'

Recommended Activity: Explore the shops in Laguna Beach

This picturesque beachside town has several blocks of art galleries, stores and restaurants.

Best Parks for Children

Lighthouse Park on the Newport Peninsula has a fun play structure and views of the marina (Google 'Lighthouse Cafe' for directions). Bluebird Park in Laguna Beach is fully fenced and has a rocket ship play structure. Sweet Shade Park in Irvine has a basketball obstacle course (bring your own basketball). Adventure Playground in Irvine has life-size Legos that children may use to build forts.

Recommended Activity: Walk or ride bikes along the boardwalk on the Newport Peninsula

A paved boardwalk runs the entire length of the Newport Peninsula beach. Google 'Newport Beach Pier' to find the parking lot and adjacent boardwalk. Bike rentals shops are available nearby.

Recommended Activity: Explore Huntington Beach

Google 'Huntington Beach Pier' to find the heart of Surf City USA. The main street, which runs directly into the pier, has shops, bars and restaurants. Also explore Pacific City which is the beautiful new shopping district located a block south of the pier.
