menil collection - an amazing free art collection with a lovely lawn to picnic on.
rothko chapel - a spiritual place featuring 14 huge works by Mark Rothko. Situated on the same campus as the Menil Collection.
Musem of Fine Arts, Houston - we’re members :) a classic Houston must-see in the heart of the Museum District (which includes many great museums including the Museum of Science and the Children's Museum which would be great spots for those travelling with kids!)
Galveston Island - see the Gulf and get some really yummy sea food with a short-ish (non-texan translation: 45-75 minutes) drive.
la chingada - our favorite Mexican spot (both locations!)
cantina barba - our favorite places to go before a concert! great for tacos, margaritas, and an unexpectedly killer burger
mala sichuan - several locations, but the OG Bellaire location is best for authentic, spicy Chinese (John’s Houston favorite)
nobie’s - a great local place, perfect for date night (Bella’s Houston favorite)

white oak music hall - our favorite place to see live music in Houston, stop by for a show if you can!
