Do I Need A Passport?
YES! EACH traveler, including children, must have a passport and E-tickets for this trip. The name on your passport and E-tickets must match your airline tickets exactly. Passports MUST have 6 months validity remaining from the date of your entry or departure to or from an international destination. To determine if your passport meets the 6 month rule, add 6 months to your arrival or exit date. Each traveler needs an E-ticket for arrival into Punta Cana AND an e-ticket for departure out of Punta Cana.
Complete the E-ticket application HERE.
The E-Ticket service is completely free of charge. If you are being charged for e-tickets, you are on a fake website.
When's the wedding?
We are getting married on Friday, July 25, 2025 @4:30pm at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana - All Inclusive in the Dominican Republic. The resort is massive so plan to leave your room at least 30 min prior to our wedding to ensure you're on time.
Can We Take Pictures at the Wedding Ceremony?
We are having an unplugged ceremony, where our guests won't take photos during our ceremony. We want everyone to be fully present, so that our photography/videographer can capture this very special moment. We also want to look back at our photos without seeing phones and extended hands in every shot.
You're welcome to take as many pictures as you'd like before or after the ceremony, though! And if you do take any photos, please share them with our wedding QR code that will be at our wedding.
what can I expect traveling internationally?
Check-In and Security: Arrive at least 3 hours before your flight for international travel. Expect long lines at check-in and security.
Passport Control: Have your passport ready for inspection upon departure and arrival.
Customs Declaration: You’ll need to fill out a customs declaration form upon arrival in the Dominican Republic.
Arrive Early: Aim for 3 hours before your flight. This allows time for check-in, security, and any potential delays.
What is the check-in process?
To register at the resort, every guest must present their passport upon arrival and a valid credit card.
The check in time 3:00 PM, and the checkout time is 12:00 PM. When you arrive, you can ask for early check-in, however, it is subject to availability. When you arrive, go to the front desk, where you will be provided with a wristband that gives you access to hotel grounds and restaurants. Resort staff will safeguard your luggage, so you can enjoy paradise. Staff will notify you when your room is ready. Front desk staff are available and ready to assist you 24 hours, seven days a week. NOTE: a mandatory $100 per night per reservation hold will be placed on your credit cards when you arrive and will be released when you depart.
Will there be a hold on my credit card when I arrive?
Yes, there is a mandatory $100 USD hold per night held on your credit card for the reservation to cover incidental expenses and any potential additional charges that may occur during your stay. This hold is a standard procedure and is used to ensure that any incidentals, such as room service, dining, or damages, can be covered conveniently without the need for immediate payment at check-out. While the hold is placed on your credit card, the funds are not actually charged. Instead, the amount is temporarily reserved, which might affect your available credit limit until the hold is released after check-out. The release process varies by bank, and typically, the hold is lifted within a few business days after your departure. The mandatory hold is specifically processed on a credit card provided at the time of reservation.
What should I do to ensure using my bank/credit card out of country goes smoothly?
Notify your bank and credit card companies to let them know your travel dates and destination so your cards aren’t flagged for suspicious activity when used abroad. Some cards have fees for international transactions. It’s helpful to check your bank's rates, as you might prefer to bring a card that doesn’t charge these fees. Banks often charge fees for foreign ATM withdrawals, so consider withdrawing larger amounts less frequently. If your bank partners with banks in the Dominican Republic, you might avoid certain fees.
Bring a backup payment method in case one card doesn’t work or is misplaced, having a second credit or debit card is a good precaution. Make sure your bank has up-to-date contact information in case they need to reach you about suspicious activity.
Some cards limit foreign transactions for security reasons. Confirm with your bank so you aren’t unexpectedly blocked from making a purchase.
What is the dress code for your wedding events?
As you plan and prepare for our wedding celebrations, we kindly ask that you refrain from wearing white specifically at our wedding events. We want to ensure that the day feels special and unique for the bride & groom. Thursday (7.24.25), will be our 'Welcome Party.' There isn't a dress code for our welcome party.
Friday (7.25.25 @ 4:30pm) is 'Our Wedding Day! 'We're asking all guests (women, men, and children) to wear bright tropical colors to our wedding. Women are requested to wear formal gowns, sophisticated cocktail dresses, or dressy separates. Men should wear suits, or dressy polos/button down shirts with dress pants or dress shorts. We want to make sure you feel fabulous and prepared while #OnTheRunWithTheMillers! We’ve put together a Pinterest board with some wedding attire inspiration. Take a look at our Pinterest board to get some ideas for what to wear (see the 1st link below). On Saturday, we're planning to do a catamaran party boat, where you can snorkel, swim/float in the water, and/or just enjoy partying on a boat. The fee for this excursion is $100 per person. Individuals age 3 and up can participate. Women who are pregnant aren't able to participate. For this event we're asking guests (women, men, and children) to wear all orange attire. Your clothes can be any shade of orange. To get everyone in the spirit, we’ve created a Pinterest board featuring all things orange for attire inspiration (see the 2nd link below).

What is the local currency, and should we bring cash?
Dominican Peso is the official currency. Locals often call it “peso,” symbolized by the abbreviations DP $ or DOP $. Dominican Pesos can be obtained from a currency exchange outlet. However, if this isn’t possible, hotels in Punta Cana provide currency exchange services and have ATMs for cash withdrawals in the local currency. You can bring cash to exchange for pesos, tip servers, play at the casino, and/or purchase souvenirs. We recommend that you get cash in the States rather than at the resort. If you're bringing cash for tipping, we also recommend you break your cash into smaller bills prior to traveling to Punta Cana.
-Purchase things like sunscreen, over-the-counter medications, etc., in the States. It will be much more expensive to buy those items at the resort!
What is the local weather in Punta Cana in July?
Daily high temperatures are around 87°F, rarely falling below 85°F or exceeding 90°F. Daily low temperatures are around 78°F, rarely falling below 75°F or exceeding 80°F.
Do I need an international phone plan?
Yes, visitors to the Dominican Republic may need an international phone plan or a local SIM card to avoid expensive roaming charges. Buying a local SIM card upon arrival can provide affordable rates for calls, texts, and data. Some carriers, like AT&T and Verizon, offer international phone plans that include the Dominican Republic. For example, AT&T's Unlimited Premium, Unlimited Premium PL, and Unlimited Elite plans include unlimited talk, text, and data in the Dominican Republic at no extra cost. Verizon's TravelPass plan costs $10 per day for the Dominican Republic. You can also upgrade your Verizon plan to their international plan for the time that you will be in the Dominican Republic, and change your plan back to your former plan when you return back to the states (this is our favorite option). NOTE: Don't change your plan if you have a 'grandfathered plan' a plan that no longer exist and is a great deal in today's economy. They won't let you get that rate again once you change your plan. You may be interested in International calling cards for the Dominican Republic, which are often cheaper than traditional phone plans. You can also save by using Wi-Fi only, using communication apps over Wi-Fi (what's app etc), and turning off cellular data. If you are using your cellular service, contact your provider to understand what is included in your plan if you want your phone to work in Punta Cana. Once at the resort, most areas have strong wifi.
Is There A dress Code for Resort Restaurants?
The resort's restaurants' dress code is casual. Formal shorts or bermuda shorts, dress shirts, polo shirts, or formal sandals. (No wet clothes, visible bathing suit or flip-flops.) Special events and dinners require a more formal attire.
Is there any other helpful information I should know?
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is a beautiful resort. The resort will pitch their timeshare and "exclusive members only" Legendary Club options to you when you arrive! If they mention setting up a "meeting" or "tour," we recommend you politely decline their offers, even if they insist they can get you special deals and perks. Your accommodations you set up (through booking with us) will handle everything you need for this trip, and you can easily book your own meal reservations, activities, spa appointments, etc. through the iPad in your room at the resort.
what if I have dietary restrictions?
When you check-in, let the Public Relations desk staff know about your food allergies or special food requirements. They will notify each restaurant. The resort additionally have detailed food descriptions on the menus. Be sure to make Jaytee and I aware of your dietary restrictions to ensure we accommodate you for our wedding dinner and any other wedding related events.
