So it all began at CSU San Bernardino, where we were studied Kinesiology. Our mutual friend, Brandon, introduced us after our Exercise Prescription lecture. We fast forward a few weeks to a weekend sports medicine conference in San Diego, Bernie’s hometown. That is where we really began to get to know one another. After finals wrapped up at the end of the quarter, we found ourselves spending countless hours together at the CSUSB Rec Center getting those GAINS! That is when things really started to take off.

From there, our love story continued to unfold. Our first date was in the City of Angels, where we enjoyed ramen (Bernie didn't say one word) and spent the evening watching the sunset from the iconic Griffith Observatory. It felt as if our future together was written in the stars that night.

Our love for adventure quickly became clear. We traveled to the Philippines, Puerto Rico, New York and everywhere in between. Whether it was traveling abroad, taking road trips to the central coast, or food trips, we were always ready for a great time. One of our most cherished memories together was watching Kobe on his Farewell Tour from our floor seats at the Staples Center. It was a night that reminded us how special the moments we share are and how blessed we are to have each other.

We also share a deep passion for fitness, taking dance classes together, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Santa Barbara holds a special place in our hearts; it’s actually where Bernie found the ring tucked away in Nik’s travel duffel bag on our annual summer trip. She had to meticulously place it back in the bag and act normal. Four months later in front of the stunning Multnomah Falls, Nik dropped to one knee and asked Bernie the BIG question.

Now, here we are, ready to take the biggest step of our lives together. With hearts full of love for each other, for Jesus Christ, and for the incredible journey we’ve already started, we’re so excited to say: "I do!"
