Before he stole her heart, Josh Hopper stole Bethany Martin’s fries. He was subtle about it—a slight lean forward, a reach of the arm, just took a few—but it was their first date, and she noticed. Is this a sign? she wondered, only a bit annoyed. Am I overthinking things? They connected first on Tinder, and despite engaging conversation beforehand, neither had huge expectations for that first date. But Josh said it was Bethany’s “smart, funny, not high-maintenance,” personality that drew him in, and as for Bethany, “Once we meet and began talking, it felt like I was having dinner with a friend I had known for years.” Ultimately (and luckily for Josh), the french-fry stealing wasn’t a deal breaker, and the two would agree to a second, then third, then many, many, more dates. Fast forward to today, and Josh and Bethany are getting ready to tie the knot. When you spend time with Josh and Bethany, it doesn’t take long to see the two are perfect for each other. Despite their laid-back personalities, both Josh and Bethany are extremely competitive, a side in both of them that shows when they play games. It doesn’t matter the game—cards, axe throwing, you name it—they show up to win. They both love breweries, taking their dog Luke for long walks, the BANQUE line dancing bar, riding in Josh’s Mustang with the top down, and traveling. Bethany and Josh are set to be married on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the The Gala 417 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Like their relationship and their engagement, their wedding will be celebration of all the wonderful things about them and the things they love and enjoy as a couple. It’ll be the start of a new chapter, one that both Bethany and Josh can’t wait to enter together. “Besides starting a family, which we are both very excited for in the next few years, I’m most excited to grow as a couple,” Bethany says about what she’s most looking forward to when it comes to being married to Josh. “We have both been independent people living on our own for most of our adult lives, so I’m excited to continue to grow together.” Meanwhile, Josh is looking forward to “having tons of future adventures traveling together, and hoping she still loves me when I win at all the games we play, whether it’s Phase 10, Yahtzee, throwing axes, Top Golf, or Bowling.”
