If you’ve ever asked Bethany or I the question on how we met, I’m sure you know our story began in the beautiful city of Las Vegas, Nevada. On August 31, 2018, a match made in heaven would meet for the first time in front of the Caesar’s Palace, which I can confirm Caesar didn’t actually live at. Bystanders may not have seen a “match made in heaven” when looking at me, a ski bum wearing his dad’s old tommy Bahama shirt, worn out Birkenstock’s, and searching for a PBR rather than a casino, accompanied by an alarmingly energetic blonde woman, wearing a red latex dress and drinking “vodka waters”. Unknown to those around us, we would be inseparable from that moment on. Unfortunately, reality soon set in as I remembered I was leaving for California that next morning for a surf trip. In fear of cutting our love story short, I decided it would be best to propose that very first night! Luckily this would turn out to be a funny story rather than a complete disaster. As we went back to our respected colleges in Missouri & Utah, we continued to talk daily over facetime as if we had known each other our entire lives.
Fast forward to May 2019 and we were weeks away from graduating college. As I planned a road trip from Utah to South Carolina, where I was headed to work on a friend’s food truck, my logical roommate noticed that I would be driving right through Columbia, Missouri where Bethany was attending college. A few phone calls and a 20+ hour drive and we would reunite that following week. This was the turning point, soon to be free from the constraints of academia, we planned our next visits. The first visit would be to my parents home on the sea coast of New Hampshire at the end of June 2019. 24hrs into this visit, Bethany and I were officially dating and within two months we were packing up Bethany’s belongings into a minivan and driving east to our first apartment in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The rest is history.
Cheers,
Bethany & Pete
