What are the top 5 things I need to do/know before I go to Europe?
1. Obtain an updated Passport (cannot travel if your passport expires in less than six months).
2. Notify your bank and cellular companies you will be going to Europe before you leave so your card will not be frozen/you can use an international pass through your carrier. Do not exchange money at the airport you will lose a lot, exchange in the city center or before you travel to Europe. Also, Mastercard and Visa are widely accepted, but some places do not take AMEX. Check foreign transaction fees before you come.
3. Pack Lightly, if you can use a carry-on bag and a weekender/duffle because of the lack of elevators across Europe. Especially if you are traveling to multiple places during your trip, everything in Europe is smaller including hotels, cars, and roads. The roads are cobblestone so packing less means no stress. Also you can bring as many 3oz liquids carry-on from the US but on the way back leaving France, there is a limit, a quart-size clear bag.
4. Make sure you get US-to-Europe adapters for all of your electronics. Not the converters (those will fry your devices) only the adapters you can find a pack of them on Amazon for a decent price.
5. Beware of pickpocketers in major cities like London and Paris, Nice and Antibes are not a problem. Bring a zip-up purse and make sure to keep your passport in your accommodations. Every time you approach a person in France, say Bonjour it is considered polite and they will be happy to help you.
Where should I send wedding gifts or cards?
Bethany's address is listed on all registry's because Daniel will be on deployment until the first week of May. Bethany will be moving to France the first week of June so if you are sending a gift or card please do so before then. We are so thankful!
