Jacob and Blaire first met the old-fashioned way, through supportive yet scheming mutual friends on a ski trip in Stratton, Vermont in February of 2019. Noticing all the signs that Jacob and Blaire were too nervous to see themselves, the puppet masters went to work and organized another trip to the North Shore in Massachusetts for Memorial Day weekend where they both hit it off. After a high stakes first visit to New York City to see Blaire, flights to NYC and date night weekends became a regular part of Jacob's routine as he foolishly started to fall in love with a girl just before he was planning to leave the country. Jacob and Blaire met talking about Jacob's plans to move to Africa to pursue entrepreneurial projects on his own in&nbsp;Rwanda, but they both could not help but continue to see each other as much as they could before he&nbsp;made the big move. With bags packed for his flight the next day on March 16th, 2020, like many others, the COVID-19 Pandemic changed their expectations for the future in an instant.&nbsp;&nbsp; Just over a year after meeting each other for the first time, Jacob and Blaire were quarantining together in a 550 square foot studio apartment in the Upper East Side of New York City. However, after a few short weeks they were luckily able to escape to the Gavin Family's cottage in Upstate New York on Cayuga Lake (with Jacob still in between jobs, he did not want to risk&nbsp;herding cattle in Wisconsin on the Vick Family farm). It was there on a lake in the Finger Lakes region that Jacob and Blaire spent every minute of every day together month after month that they knew this was the real deal. They are so happy to be able to come back and share the experience of the Finger Lakes region with everyone, now as both the place they fell in love and the place they promise to love each other for the rest of their lives.&nbsp;

We do not have a room block with The Sherwood Inn however it is very centrally located for the wedding events and a great option if you would like to have a view of the lake during your stay.

Skaneateles has plenty of Airbnb and VBRO options as well as it is a desirable location right on Skaneateles Lake. We suggest booking an option that is either near or within the Village of Skaneateles to be close to the wedding events.

The&nbsp;main drag of Skaneateles, Genesee Street, is the heart of the action where you can find several boutiques and restaurants, including the Sherwood Inn and the Bluewater Grill. From there you can venture into Clift Park, which overlooks Skaneateles Lake and is home to the iconic gazebo, one of the signature images of Skaneateles.

Anyela's Vineyard is a winery located along Skaneateles Lake and is an 8 minute drive from the Village of Skaneateles.

The Charlie Major Nature Trail is an easy 1.5-mile out-and-back trail that once carried trains along the old Skaneateles Short Line Railroad. The railroad served millworks in the area, including paper mills, grist mills, distilleries, and woodworking mills, which were powered by Skaneateles Creek. Parking is available at both ends: in Mottville at Cross Hill Road and Frost Street; north of Skaneateles around 4144 Mill Road (Old Seneca Turnpike).
