Do I get a plus one?

Unless your partner is explicitly named on the invitation, we will not be offering plus ones to our wedding. We are not inviting more than 40 people to our celebration so that we're able to spend intentional time with each guest, so at this time we're only extending invitations to our closest loved ones and friends. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to party with you!

What's the dress code?

For the camp day on 9/20, please wear anything you feel comfortable playing and tie-dying in! This could be shorts and a t-shirt, sweats, or a swim suit because we'll be right near the beach of Lake Michigan. For the wedding day on 9/21, you don't need to be in full formal wear (ie. suits and dresses not required), but please do plan to wear something a little more formal than your camp wear. Tans/neutrals, greens, oranges, blues, and blacks would all fit with our wedding colors, but please don't feel bound to those! Whatever you feel comfortable in is wonderful :)

Will meals be provided?

For the most part, yes! The hotel that we have a block reserved at has free breakfast for everyone. For lunch on camp day, we will have a simple picnic lunch with sandwich fixin's, chips, drinks, fruits, etc., and we will be grilling at the state park that evening for supper. On the wedding day, you will be on your own for lunch, but you can feel free to take a sandwich with you the day before back to your hotel. We will have supper provided on the night of the wedding. Summary: breakfast in hotel, lunch on day 1 provided (can take leftovers for lunch on day 2), dinner provided both evenings.

What is "Camp Marlow" and is it required to attend?

Camp Marlow will be held at the same location as the wedding on the day beforehand (9/20). We will be kicking off the morning around 10 AM with remarks from Blake and CD, where we will introduce our "Camp Counselors" and go over the schedule of activities. Each program slot (around 1-2 hours each) will have two major activities to pick from, a high-exertion and a low-exertion option. A few examples being a nature hike vs. arts and crafts, capture the flag vs. board games, etc. You may also take some alone time to explore the state park as you wish, it's a beautiful area! If you plan to attend the camp day, you may bring something to tie-dye, outdoor activities, your favorite board games, and a swim suit if you wish to swim in the lake (it's a short walk from the area we'll be set up). If you don't wish to come to Camp Marlow, that's totally alright, please just let us know either way so we can account for food.

Where's the closest airport?

The closest major airport would be Chicago O'Hare (ORD), which is around a 2 hour drive from the wedding location in South Haven, Michigan. There's a smaller airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan (GRR) that is a 55 minute drive.

If I'm flying, should I expect to rent a car to get to South Haven?

It depends on which airport you'll be flying into! If you arrive at Chicago, it would be best to rent a car and drive to South Haven. If you fly into Grand Rapids, Blake and CD could plan to have you carpool with us to the wedding! Feel free to text us about your travel plans and we can discuss accordingly.

What will the weather be like?

The highs in September are typically in the high-60s/low-70s, with overnight lows averaging in the mid-50s. It's best to bring layers, especially for the morning and evening, and to expect sunshine during the day (bring your sunscreen!).

Can you tell me more about the area we'll be in?

South Haven is a small town located on the coast of Lake Michigan, and has an abundance of local shops, farms, and restaurants. There's also a nearby lighthouse! Van Buren State Park has a lot of outdoor activities like hiking and biking trails, which can be found on All Trails (website and app), swimming or sunning on the beach, volleyball courts, playgrounds, and fishing/hunting (with license of course).

Will there be children at the wedding?

This will be a child-free wedding for a few different reasons, the #1 being the presence of alcohol and recreational marijuana (which is legal in the state of Michigan and will be present in some capacity at our celebration). We also want our guests to feel like they can socialize with everyone without feeling responsibility over another human, ie. we want everyone to get to party! We love our friends' children and can't wait to give them snuggles when we see them again and we appreciate everyone's understanding.

Are there other fees to keep in mind besides travel and lodging?

Van Buren State Park does charge a per-day fee for cars, out of state being $11 per day. If you'll be road-tripping up, we would recommend car-pooling to reduce this cost! If you need assistance with transportation, please reach out to Blake or CD and we can discuss from there.
