Our Wedding

We met at an Easter BBQ in 2001. Our first date was on November 8, 2001 at Frank & Angie's on west 6th Street and then we got drinks at Casino El Camino. Both places were very special to us throughout our lives together. We have spent the past 24 years traveling the world, having the best golden retriever ever, raising two kids, so many concerts, summers on Rainy Lake, and experiencing an amazing life in Austin. We are FINALLY ready for that next step! Our engagement was Easter Sunday 2025 in our backyard: twenty four years after that first meeting. Dave asked Bobbi to crack a cascarones egg on his head. When she did, a ring was inside, and he got down on his knee to propose. She said YES!

Our Story

Photos

We are so excited for guests who are coming from out of town to join us at our wedding! We have two hotels with group rates for Friday October 17th and Saturday October 18th. Both are in North Austin, not far from The Domain and The Arboretum. If you haven't heard yet, our wedding happens to fall on the same weekend as the Formula 1 race at Circuit of the Americas. Unfortunately, prices for hotels are high that weekend. The price at each hotel is around $300 per night. If you are interested in staying at an AirBnB, search for stays in zip code "78757", which is where we live. Austin is a big place! Traffic can be trying at times. If you book an AirBnB near where we live, you will be closer to others staying in the hotels.

If you don't want to drive in Austin, there many ride-share options. Prices/rates depend on time of day and locations. Uber and Lyft are what we recommend. If you feel adventurous, you can try a driverless car via Uber & Waymo!

Getting around Austin

This hotel is located in North Austin, near the Domain. Its close to restaurants and things to do! Only 10 minutes from our home. You can book a room with a king bed or two queens. The price shows $264 when you book, but that includes the standard Hotel Service Fee (HSF) automatically factored. The HSF fee is waived, but it couldn't be removed from the site. Guests are not charged an advance deposit. The Hotel Service Fee is removed at time of check in.

Cambria Hotel Austin Uptown near the Domain

This hotel is located at the southwest corner of Mopac (Loop 1) and Hwy 183, near the Arboretum and not far from the Domain. Its also about 10 minutes from our home. You can book a room with a king or two queens.

Mount Bonnell is a free hiking trail, within city limits. It is the highest peak in the city, at 775 feet, with great views of the city skyline, the 360 bridge, beautiful homes, and Lake Austin. The word "hike" can be taken lightly, as its really a tourist destination, with a 102-step climb. Its a great spot of picture taking! Pro-tip: Lock your doors and hide belongings. Thieves have broken windows to steal valuables!

Hike Mount Bonnell

Not far from Mount Bonnell is Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve. Mayfield includes an historic cottage, 2 acres of colorful cottage gardens with towering palm trees, and delicate water lilies, all blending in beautiful harmony. Peacocks roam freely in the park! The park is surrounded by a 21-acre natural area, with walking trails and wildlife habitat.

Starting in late March and continuing through early fall, North America's largest urban bat population calls Austin home. The bats begin to wake up and start their night flight around sunset, when the first few bats begin to trickle out from under the bridge. But after the sun sets, the show really begins, and hundreds to thousands of bats pour out and cascade east over Lady Bird Lake. The best time to witness the bats is around sunset, but the nightly show can take place anywhere from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. It can take as long as 45 minutes for all of the bats to exit the bridge for the night. Plan to arrive early to find parking and secure your spot.

A trip to central Texas wouldn't be complete without a Tex-Mex meal. This ain't Mexican food; Tex-Mex is its own cuisine! One of our favorite restaurants is Chuy's. There are many locations around the Austin area. We've linked the address to Chuy's on 183 (Research BLVD), but you can also visit Chuy's on North Lamar BLVD. We love both locations!

Another well known Tex Mex restaurant is Hula Hut, on Lake Austin. Close to downtown, but on the water, Hula Hut marries Tex Mex with a Hawaiian flair.

South Congress, aka "Soco", is a great place to grab a coffee or a slice of pizza, walk through shops, and people watch. Want a group shot in front of some of the famous Austin murals? Visit Jo's Coffee to see the "I love you so much" mural and Home Slice Pizza is for the "Wille for President" mural.
