The relationship between Brandon and Carley started in the high school cafeteria during their junior year homecoming dance. Carley knew of Brandon from Oak Pointe Church but didn't really know him. Brandon was with one of Carley's friends, Jess (who would be standing by her side at the wedding), so she walked over and began talking with them. Carley invited Brandon to go with her to a Christian youth group the next day. Carley gets his number and reminds him about the Bible study. Brandon comes to the Bible study and after that night, the couple has not stopped talking since!

Meeting at Oak Pointe Church's youth group is where Carley realized there was something special about Brandon. Carley witnessed Brandon’s baptism during their freshman year of high school. Brandon's baptism moved Carley because she immediately hugged him after he was baptized (even though she barely knew him). She had not spoken to him or seen him in a long time. The couple believes that God and the Holy Spirit were clearly moving at that moment and continued to throughout their relationship because it was not until the most perfect moment that Brandon re-entered Carley’s life during their junior year of high school.

Brandon was very traditional in the dating process. He took things slowly and it got to a point where Carley had to step in. She told him she liked him and was wondering if he felt the same. Carley had also initiated their first date (which took three months). The couple had their first date at Buffalo Wild Wings, where they sat talking for hours.

They continued dating and Brandon learned that Carley tended to be indecisive with decision-making. So, he would always suggest they flip a coin. When their school winter formal came around, Brandon found Carley in the hall of Walled Lake Western and showed her coins with paper writing on them. He said, “I know it may be hard to make a decision, so I am going to help you decide on going to winter formal with me by flipping this coin.” Brandon was smart to add "yes" to both sides of the coin. Carley was so excited to go with him anyway! However, the winter formal got canceled due to a huge snowstorm, but that did not stop them from hanging out that night. That night, February 10th, 2018, Brandon asked Carley to be his girlfriend and obviously, she said "yes"! Little did Carley know that six years later she would be saying "yes" to being with Brandon forever!
