Rocky Mountain National Park is a great place to go for a hike or just drive around for incredible views and wildlife sightings. Be ready for Elk, Sheep, Moose, and plenty of Marmots!
Summer months often require advance reservations to enter the park, especially weekends. We highly recommend checking out the NPS website for more information regarding this.
Our favorite hike is Emerald Lake from the Bear Lake trailhead. Once you're all done, get a beer in the local mountain town, Estes Park.
Breckenridge is a historic mining town turned ski town located in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. In addition to beautiful views, Breck has lots of breweries, restaurants and shops that offer a full day of sightseeing. You can hike anywhere on the resort or take the gondola to the top. Take a quick walk to the Breckenridge troll for a fun picture.
Our favorite places to stop are Breck Brewery, Crepes a la carte, and the Patagonia store!
Golden is one of the most visited front range towns. Located at the base of the Mountains, Golden is built around Clear Creek. Golden offers the opportunity to tube down the creek, hike, mountain bike, and enjoy the historic downtown. "Goldens in Golden" is a famous event held in town each year on National Golden Retriever day.
Golden is also the home to Coors Brewery, where all Coors Banquet is made (Wouter's favorite). You can reserve a tour of the brewery where they still make lots of varieties of beer.
Our favorite "must do's" are the Golden Mill, tubing down Clear Creek (Rentals available downtown), and New Terrain Brewing.
Grab your laptop and a drink at the Cat Cafe. It's a cat shelter that offers a cafe to support their mysterious & important work!
If you are interested in hiking, August is a great time to do so! There are great hiking trails all over the state and at all different levels of difficulty. The best way to find a great trail for you is by downloading "AllTrails." It's a free app that allows you to filter by difficulty, length, desired views, etc..
