FLIGHTS

1. Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is the first and main international airport located approx. 30 minutes by car to the city center. There is also a train available that runs directly from the airport to Roma Termini (the central train station in Rome). The first train leaves the airport at 6:38 a.m., and the last of the day at 11:38 p.m.. Tickets cost €14 each way. After claiming your luggage, follow the signs for the train. It’s about a five-minute walk from the baggage carousels to the train. Do not forget to stamp your train tickets before boarding!

2. Ciampino Airport (CIA) is the second airport located approx. 22 minutes by car to the city center. There are train lines, as well as bus routes available from CIA to Roma Termini.

Please be mindful that some flights from the US are overnight - double check your arrival date. For those traveling from the US, we suggest arriving a couple days earlier so you can have a good night’s rest and acclimate to the timezone before the fun begins.

In order to enter Italy your passport will need at least 6 months past your date of arrival - please ensure yours isn’t close to expiring!

For those of you considering various routes (or traveling around Europe or Italy before or after the wedding), we highly recommend using https://rome2rio.com to explore the most efficient ways to get to your destination.

TRANSPORT

1. Trains

2. Three main metro lines

3. Taxis (Via one of Rome's many taxi stands or calling a taxi company)

4. Rideshare apps such as Uber, Free Now (Free Now is typically cheaper than Uber, but not quite "free" as the name may imply), MyTaxi (very popular in Europe. It is similar to Uber and you can call both taxis and black cars from the app)

5. Buses (Historically not the most timely form of transportation in Rome)

6. Car Rental (Bold, but doable--more info below)

7. For the adventurous travelers in the group, there are many electric scooter & bike rental stations located throughout the city such as Byrd, Dott, Lime, Voi, etc.

Feel free to reach out to others who are arriving around the same time and share transport etc! Depending on what hotel you are staying at - they might provide transport from the airport as well.

Rentals: Renting a car and driving in Italy is very similar to the US! They drive on the right side of the road and Hertz, Enterprise are at FCO. The only prerequisite is to acquire an International Driving Permit, which can be done quickly and easily in-person at any AAA location in the US. We found a great guide that explains it better here.

Jubilee

The Jubilee, or Holy Year, is a year of celebration, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal in the Catholic Church, and is celebrated in Rome every 25 years. It will occur in 2025 so keep that in mind as you plan your travel experience.

ACCOMODATIONS

While the events will take place twenty minutes southeast of Rome's city center, feel free to stay anywhere in Rome that you please. There is no reserved hotel block because we wanted to give you the freedom to select a place you love. Rome offers a wide variety of accommodations, from hotels to Airbnbs, to suit all budgets and styles.

If AirBnB is more your speed, we recommend looking in the following neighborhoods:

Monti, Trastevere, Spagna, Testaccio, Prati, Centro Storico, Campo Marzio
