When and where is the wedding being held?

The wedding and reception are being held at the Schloss Roxburghe in Kelso, Scotland on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Guests will receive a formal invitation closer to the event. We understand that an international wedding may be difficult for a multitude of reasons and look forward to celebrating with all friends and family in ways most conducive to them. This may not include the event on October 12th. However, due to venue capacity limitations we kindly ask those who will be unable to attend to please do so as soon as possible (including in advance of formal invitations). This will allow for us to make tentative arrangements with the venue and our other guests.

What’s the timing of the event?

Guests planning to attend the wedding should be in Kelso Scotland from Friday, October 11th through Sunday October 13th at least. Friends and family may want to extend travel plans while already abroad. We are planning pre-wedding events/activities in Edinburgh before traveling to the countryside for the big event. The hotel and resort also has amenities on-site including a spa, golfing, fly fishing, etc. for those seeking a bit of relaxation post wedding day. Guest are warmly encouraged to join us either before or after the wedding.

Can I travel before or after the wedding?

Yes and Yes! As noted, we encourage all our guests who are able to do traveling before or after the wedding to take advantage of being in Scotland/the United Kingdom. Brian and Roland would be happy to share links to their top picks in Scotland and are looking at coordinating pre wedding activities in Edinburgh for those interested.

Can I bring a plus one?

We have made an effort to invite all known significant others of friends and family. If a significant other was not included in the invitation or someone’s status changes in advance of the event, please reach out to us. The reception location has a strict capacity, though we will do our best to accommodate loved ones whenever feasible.

Are children invited to the wedding?

Unfortunately, due to space constraints at the venue, we are unable to accommodate children during the wedding. If guests have children they are traveling with, they are welcome to join the festivities before and after the reception, though space may be too limited for inclusion during the wedding reception itself.

Transportation to Scotland.

Guests have two main options for travel to the event. Many airlines offer secondary routes to Edinburgh (or Newcastle) via London. There is also train service to a nearby train stations (Berwick upon Tweed or Galashiels stations) if individuals would rather fly into London or elsewhere and take the train to the destination. Flights to London are frequent and most economical, while connecting flights to Edinburgh run an additional $200 - $300.

Transportation to the hotel.

For those in Edinburgh before the event, Brian and Roland will look to charter a coach to transport guests on the Friday before the wedding. They will also look into chartering a return coach the Monday after the event depending on interest and schedules of guests. Otherwise guests may find that a train/taxi or car rental to the hotel work better for them. The hotel does offer an on-site helicopter pad for anyone seeking to live their Logan Roy fantasy. The hotel offers information for all of these options on their website.

Do I need a passport in order to travel to Scotland/the United Kingdom?

Yes, a valid U.S. passport is required to travel to the United Kingdom; however, a visa is not. If you have a valid U.S. passport we suggest that you check its expiration date and renew your passport if it is due to expire within 6 months after the wedding date. For more information either getting or renewing an existing U.S. passport,

How far in advance should I book my hotel/accommodations for the wedding?

We suggest that guests that want to stay at the Schloss Roxburghe (the hotel where the wedding is occurring) book their accommodations ASAP as the hotel didn’t allow us to create a wedding block like hotels in the United States. However, there are also other hotels around the city center of Kelso, Scotland if there is limited availability or that may be more economical. It is roughly a 10-minute car drive from Kelso’s city center to the Schloss Roxburghe. We recommend that our guests not staying at the Schloss Roxburghe coordinate a taxi in advance from where they are staying.

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

The attire for wedding is British country chic. LOL. Think Saltburn, Downton, Succession, any number of country estate weekend looks.

What will the weather in Scotland be like this time of year?

According to Visit Scotland from September to November, Scotland is like to experience temperatures ranging from 46-59°F. So bring your favorite cozy sweater and Fall attire for the trip. To make up for the slightly chillier weather, the colors of autumn should be eye-catching and vibrant, as the trees in Scotland change from green to fiery reds, oranges and yellows. It’s the perfect time of year to make sure your iPhone is upgraded and snap some photographs of the beautiful Scottish foliage. This is also the United Kingdom, so it is recommended you bring a raincoat, a waterproof jacket or an umbrella as well as a daily bit of rain is not uncommon.

Where are the ceremony and the reception taking place?

Both the ceremony and the reception are taking place on the premise of the grounds of the estate (Schloss Roxburghe). Dinner will be served in a Victorian conservatory, while the ceremony location is TBD. More details will be shared so guests can plan accordingly.

What happens after the ceremony?

The wedding day will include several activities after the ceremony. This will include a cocktail reception, British “Wedding Breakfast” (not actually breakfast), late night dinner and music. Brian and Roland are also looking into other activities post ceremony and will share a timeline of events for guests once it is finalized.

Will there be vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or special diet options?

Roland and Brian will work with the venue to accommodate any dietary restrictions guests may have assuming they are feasible. Please just reach out to let us know at your earliest convenience so we can plan accordingly.

Where are you registered?

To be determined at this point in time.
