Our story begins in a rather unique way... I was on the hiring committee for the GA position that Oscar applied for (and ended up getting) at South Dakota State. Fast forward to August of 2020, Oscar and I had almost every class together in our Master's program. We sat next to each other in one class and were paired together for a group project. However, I was coaching high school cheerleading that fall season and was gone from class more often than not. As the semester progressed, we worked together on the project and started hanging out in a larger group setting with other classmates. Right before Thanksgiving break of 2020, you could say the fire officially lit. We talked non-stop over Christmas break in December and started officially dating in January of 2021. In August of 2021, I was offered a job in Omaha and decided to take it. Oscar still had another year left of his Master's program and stayed in Brookings. We did "long" distance for about a year until Oscar graduated in May of 2022 and was able to find a job that allowed him to work remotely. The next several months were a whirlwind of sharing a tiny apartment, getting a puppy, and buying our very first house together in March of 2023. In November of 2023, Oscar popped the question and we haven't looked back since. We're so excited to continue building this life together and can't wait to share our special day with you in Mexico!
