About Us Individually:
Bridget is in her 18th year as a high school math teacher. She taught in Virginia Beach for 2 years (Atlantic Shores Christian School), Spotsylvania County for 14 years (Spotsylvania High School), and is now in her 2nd year working for Stafford County Public Schools (Stafford High School). What she teaches can vary a little from year to year, but her primary focus/expertise is Geometry. In addition to Geometry she also typically teaches Inclusion Geometry (half Special Education students with a Special Education Collaborative teacher), Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry, and AP Computer Science Principles. Bridget was a dancer from age 4 to age 22 (all forms, but primarily classical ballet), was a cheerleader, swimmer, and track runner in school, and coached cheerleading for over a decade after college. She has had a part-time job at the Yankee Candle retail store here in Fredericksburg for almost 8 years and absolutely loves it. She also loves to travel as much as possible and is obsessed with anything related to Disney, cats, or Disney Cats!

Mark is an Electrical Engineer and has worked in his field for over 20 years. In the past he worked as an electrician before pursuing his degrees at George Mason University and Johns Hopkins University. After his graduate coursework, he worked at Dahlgren Naval Base in Virginia, for Raytheon in Massachusetts, and most recently for UnaDyn in Fredericksburg, VA. He has always wanted to run his own electrical engineering business, and he just recently decided to finally go for it! “Journey Controls” is now officially up and running and Mark is loving that he gets to be his own boss and work from home. He loves to play video games, collects comic books, goes to the gym at least every other day (he was an athlete in school and likes to stay active), loves Sci-Fi, college football, working on his car, and tinkering on just about any project.

About Us as a Couple:
We met on Bumble in early March, 2023. The apps finally paid off! Our first official date was at Olive Garden on Pi Day (March 14), which was by happenstance but appropriate for two math nerds. We hit it off immediately and Mark asked for a second date before even leaving the restaurant! We’ve basically been inseparable ever since and have enjoyed lots of fun dates from trivia nights at a local brewery, to the Renaissance Faire (pictured above), and more. Things progressed very easily and naturally- it was easy to discuss our future and Mark said early on “I’m in, I’m not going anywhere.” We both found the person we’ve been looking for all our lives (neither of us have been married before) and truly feel blessed to have finally found each other. It’s all been in God’s perfect timing though as we know we both had to go through our past experiences to become the person the other needed. God doesn’t give up on our dreams or disappoint, and we should never give up on God or lose faith in Him- He will give us everything we’ve always wanted…in His time.

We are excited to get married and to continue on the path God has for us together as husband and wife…and hopefully as parents someday soon!

Our Fur Babies

Picture of Our Fur Babies

We both really love animals and together will have 5 fur babies running around the house!

Mark has a dog named Elsa, a Catahoula Leopard who is about 12 years old (we think). He rescued her from very unfortunate circumstances 8 years ago; she had been abused by her former owners and abandoned twice. She is very sweet, but understandably shy and skittish around new people and new places. Thankfully she bonded with Bridget pretty quickly and gets along famously with the cats!

Bridget has 4 kitties- Milo (12), GiGi (10), Lucy (9), and Amy (8). The kitties all came to be with Bridget through various rescues. Bridget volunteered with a local animal rescue for a while and had to stop when she realized she would continue to keep bringing cats home! Amy was the last to be adopted after Bridget fostered her when she was 3 weeks old; she became a “Foster Failure” because she never left! Lucy is the most unique of the cats as she enjoys wearing hats and costumes! She is such a good little model that Bridget has been making calendars of her in various outfits for the last 4 years.

Although Bridget is not really a dog person and Mark is not a cat person, the two love each other’s animals as much as they love their own. Bridget has really enjoyed taking Elsa for walks and giving her treats, and Mark loves to play with the kitties, give them catnip, and snuggle with them. Thankfully all the fur babies get along well together and it looks like the makings of a very happy home!
