Where is this??
Our wedding is taking place in Mammoth Lakes, CA, located in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is absolutely beautiful and we know everyone will love it. However, the ceremony and reception are occurring at 10,000+ feet of altitude so PLEASE be mindful of letting your body adjust. We recommend coming out a few days early to enjoy the scenery and start the celebration with us. There is also a local shop that has IV treatments that can be helpful for adjusting to altitude.
How do I get there?
Good question. The two closest airports are Reno and LA. Reno is a 3-hour drive and LAX is about 4.5 hour drive (depending on traffic). There is a very small airport in Bishop, CA that is only 30 minutes away from Mammoth, and you may be able to take a connecting flight there (we are looking into this and it depends on the ski season). The wedding party is invited to drive up with us from LA. If transportation is an issue for you, please let us know and we’ll try to help as much as we can! You will not have to worry about transport once we are there.
Where should I stay?
Mammoth is providing discounted group rates at a few of the local hotels. See the link in our lodging section for easy reservations! There is a Marriot hotel near The Village that would also be great for location. Of course, you can also use AirBnB or Vrbo if you would like. As an FYI, bride and groom and wedding party will likely be staying at the Village for the duration of the weekend. We will be providing transportation from the Village to our wedding and rides home can be given to any location.
What will the weather be like?
Weather apps and Weather.com are always your friend. At this time of year, it probably will be upper 50s-60s during the day (hopefully sunny!) but will get chilly at night so pack accordingly. There will be snow in the mountains but probably not in the city.
Can I ski or snowboard?
Yes please! The ski season usually extends into June at Mammoth so you will likely be able to catch some powder if you want. Mammoth has everything: downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, skate skiing, hiking. The world is your oyster!
Where can I find more information about the area?
Mammoth has a great "Guide to Mammoth" on their website. Feel free to check it out here: https://www.mammothmountain.com/discover-mammoth/guide-to-mammoth
