What should I wear?

The dress code is cocktail attire. The reception will be more relaxed, but the ceremony is in a Catholic church, so we ask that guests dress modestly—mini dresses and skirts are not allowed. Keep in mind our wedding is in February... in Georgia, so it may be chilly!

Is the wedding and reception child friendly?

Absolutely! We love kids and would be delighted to have them celebrate with us. However, we do have a strict number of attendees, so please make sure to discuss with us and include them on your RSVP so they're accounted for and have dinner. :)

Will there be alcohol?

Yes, of course! Let the toasting commence! We’ll kick things off with a complimentary champagne toast to celebrate the big “I do.” After that, a cash bar will be serving beer and wine to keep spirits high. For our friends rocking sobriety milestones or just skipping the buzz, we’ve got a 0% beer option so everyone can raise a glass (or can) in style.

What time should we arrive for the ceremony?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 1 p.m.. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to find a seat and take in the beauty of our historic church!

What should I expect at a Catholic Wedding Ceremony?

Our wedding will be a full Catholic Nuptial Mass, which means it will last about an hour. There will be prayers, readings, hymns, and Holy Communion. If you're not Catholic, don't worry—you’re still an honored guest and welcome to participate in everything except receiving Communion.

Do I have to kneel, stand, or do anything specific during the ceremony?

You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Catholic weddings have some standing, sitting, and kneeling, but if you're not Catholic (or have bad knees—looking at you, Uncle Dale), feel free to stay seated during the kneeling parts.

Can I receive Communion?

In the Catholic faith, Holy Communion is reserved for baptized Catholics in a state of grace (e.g. recently received the sacrament of Reconciliation). If you’re not Catholic, or if you choose not to receive, you’re welcome to remain seated or come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing from the priest.

Will there be lots of incense?

Yes! Incense will be used during the ceremony, so if you’re sensitive to scents, you may want to sit toward the back.

Will there be a lot of Latin?

There will be Latin prayers, hymns, and responses throughout the Mass, but there will also be English readings, the homily, and some prayers. We’ll have a detailed program with translations, so you can follow along with ease.

What’s the vibe of the reception?

Think of it as a great mix of elegance and fun. There will be good food, great company, and probably a sea shanty or two (or ten) by the end of the night.

Will there be dancing?

Yes, of course! And if you don't dance, we'll have some alternate activities such as card games and small board games on the tables. :)

What are the colors/theme?

Our wedding colors are Burgundy, Black, Ivory, Dusty Pink, and Sage, and our theme is Romantic Date Night, because our reception is not just a celebration but also a special date night for us and our closest friends and family! While many weddings discourage guests from wearing the bridal party colors, we want you to focus on looking and feeling your best in your favorite date night attire. So don’t stress about shying away from certain colors (with the exception of white, of course)!
