Hey, I'm BJ! I met Matthew in 2018 at ABK under the pseudonym Klutzy. A few years later, I hear of a guy moving to North Bay who's hoping to connect with people. So, he's invited over to watch Beauty and the Beast. Sing along version. And that's where the adventures started. From this, there were many late night bro talks, "taxi" rides, business ideas, theological conversations, triathlon training moments, and relationship advice that we shared. And despite his nickname, even though most of the time relevant, Matt was not a klutz when dealing with a lady that walked into his life. I won't go into all the details, but I've come to learn Matt as one of the most intentional, reliable, goofy, friendly, genuine, kind-hearted, and God-honoring men I know. Now, I am told to pass on a favorite memory of mine of Matt and I, and I have one to summarize my friendship with him.
One evening, Matt and I were at a friend's place to watch (and sing along to) Hamilton. Matt was ecstatic and that this would be either his 4th, 5th, or 6th time watching it and he was so excited to share this with us. Throughout the night during movie pauses, Matt prepared butternut squash (absolutely delicious, Brooke I'm envious), helped with nachos, and brought his own goodies to share (what a sweetheart!). Hamilton is a 3 hour show, and we started at 8pm ish, and finished around 1-1:30am. Our friend was exhausted and tired, as they were hosting, working during the day, and just finished a 3 hour movie after cooking nachos for us. As Matt, the gentleman he is, decided that to help our friend out, we should watch conspiracy theory videos and discuss theology about how God can use anything and everything for good and His glory. After about an hour and a half of Matt and I chit chatting on these topics, Matt decided it was time that we should head off as our friend was finally fully asleep (they actually kicked us out, but that's just details). Matt, and his many business ventures, as my taxi driver, drove me home as we continued the conversation during the peaceful, quiet, city night. One of many stories, with my good friend, personal plumber, and brother-in-Christ, Matt Priest.
Hi, I am Calum. Matt and I have been friends for just over a year now, we met at camp when he came with our friend to volunteer for the week. Matt and I became friends instantly and since then have been spending lots of time together and are now working together. My favourite memories of matt have to be helping him with his plumbing at a camp work weekend and his weird obsession with bananas the first time we met.
