Meet the wonderful ladies who will be standing beside Brooke on the wedding day. Who all mean the world to her, and have helped shape her into the woman she is today.
Hi, my name is Hope and I am Brooke's favourite sister...(and that's not because I am the only one...). Anyways Mom and Dad blessed Brooke with me when she was three years old and we have been attached at the hip ever since (even if she tried to wake me up when she first saw me...). Sharing a room and staying up till 2am laughing at the most random things. I don't think that I could pick just one memory of Brooke to call my favourite. Between laughing so hard we can't breath, staying up later than we should playing on the Wii, going for long drives at night listening to music, or getting too competitive while playing any sport or game. Brooke has always been there for me and I wouldn't change any of it.
Hello my name is Kayah, I'm Brooke's cousin and Matt's friend. My favourite memory is when I accidentally texted Brooke instead of Hope that I could tell Brooke liked Matt. Because Brooke and Matt were sitting next to each other on the couch. Then I got a text back, not from Hope, but from Brooke saying "look who you are texting". We laughed about that for a long time.
My name is Ellé! I am Brooke’s bridesmaid! My story begins when meeting Matt back in 2015 at youth camp at abk. We kept in contact throughout the years until he reached out and asked about moving to north bay in 2022. Cutting to also in 2022 I had become friends with Brooke through abk as summer staff. Matt had decided to come visit a couple times to see if north bay would be a good fit which I knew it would be, and introduced him to the friend group. Skipping some time later, he has moved to North Bay and Brooke and mines friendship had been growing so much she became family to me. Matt had called me up and said I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone NOT EVEN BROOKE, so I knew it had to be a serious phone call. He had expressed he was interested in Brooke and so it began Matt pursuing Brooke and I wanted to talk to her about it so desperately but knowing that things should just happen easily. As they got closer and were very serious Matt had called me again to say he was thinking of marrying Brooke. Her and I had always talked about this day coming and I couldn’t be more excited for them but I wasn’t going to let him get away so easily. We met up for a 3 hour brunch and I had grilled him with some questions before I would “give my blessing”. There was so much in this process I wanted to chat with Brooke but for obvious reasons I couldn’t. Clearly seeing this website blurb and wedding invites I did much approve! The morning the got engaged the amount of love I felt for them and felt around them was so overwhelming in the best way possible and it is such an honour to be apart of their love story and I love them very much. There’s so many memories I hold dear with Brooke but if I had to pick one is A favourite memory I have with Brooke is the morning she got engaged. It was nice and early heading down to the waterfront at camp we were a distance apart, looking at each other running towards each other into a massive hug crying. That hug had so much love I knew I had a sister for life.
Hi! I’m Julia Peake. I met Brooke in May of 2022 and I have lived with her every spring and summer since then at ABK.
I’ve grown close with her through many hours of backroad drives, running archery, and campfire chats in the lounge, all accompanied with lots of laughs! We’ve made many memories at camp and through hanging out in North Bay during the school year. Of the many adventures I was blessed to go on with Brooke, one of my favourites is a time we went winter hiking on a different trail system than we thought and got turned around in the bush. 26 kilometres and 4 hours later we made it back to the car. Neither of us had any trouble filling the time with heart-to-heart chats! It has been so fun to see Brooke and Matt’s relationship grow and I can’t wait to support both of them as they step into this new chapter of their lives!
The Lord orchestrated Brooke being in my life from June 2021 onward. I got a Facebook message from a mutual friend asking to live with her since her other friend, Brooke no longer was able to. At that time, I don’t think Brooke knew how much of an impact her saying “no” to that apartment had on my life. I later met Brooke my first year of university where we ended up having many classes together the following years. It went like this: Brooke researching classes, clinicals and arranging timetables and me asking her what she chose and choosing the same so I could be with her. Our nursing school journey resulted in me reaching out to Brooke for clarification on assignments, dosage questions and many pizza study dates with Brooke as the chef. I also got the privilege to live with Brooke while she fell in love with Matt. I remember Brooke bringing Matt back to the apartment on one of their first dates and when Brooke stepped out of the room, I had the opportunity to talk with Matt about His life. I went away from that conversation with complete confidence in his character, knowing that they were a match. Our apartment benefitted a lot from their relationship. Matt truly has a heart of generosity from buying all the roommates starbucks, ice cream and making us all dinner on multiple occasions. Not to mention the plethora of flowers he would gift Brooke and by default the entire apartment would enjoy. Having Brookes friendship during some of the most challenging years of my life has been such a blessing from the Lord. I’m so thankful to look back on my university years and have her be such a big part of my core memories. I look forward to creating many new memories with her and Matt and seeing how the Lord uses them for the ministry He has called them too.
I'm Morgan, I've lived beside Brooke for 12 years. my favourite memory of Brooke was when I was so excited to show her my broken arm and she met me half way on the trail between her house to show me her sprained ankle. Which initiated the hospital visit competition between the Brohart and Wagler kids that summer.
Hi! My name is Julia Baraluk. I am Brooke's 2nd cousin and I knew her since she was a baby. It's difficult to pick a favourite memory with her so I'll share a most recent one. When my husband was in the hospital Brooke came to spend the night with me. She came with encouragement, prayers and snacks. We stayed up way to late chatting, but the time spent was special. That's also around the time I heard about Matt, and I knew he was already winning over her heart!
Maria Rowell has been a long-time family friend of the Broharts, ABK staff alumni who watched Matt and Brooke grow up, former pen pal to Brooke, and more recently, extremely distant Moffatt cousin by marriage (get that grandma spice)! Her daughter lovingly refers to Brooke as “Uncle Brooke” or “Big Brooke” and there is nothing that brings her more joy! Maria’s favourite memories with Brooke usually involve good food, good coffee, good ice cream, a good back road, or some good shenanigans at camp. Some stand-out memories are letting Brooke drive her still new-to-her truck and almost not living to tell the tale after an unexpected sharp turn, hearing Brooke talk (yell) in her sleep after a week of camping in her overtired stupor that a cabin was falling on her, and running into a cow traffic jam that one time on Lee Valley Road. Maria is really looking forward to standing with Brooke and Matt on their big day, especially because it means more visits from them as Matt’s parents are just a short 15 minute drive away
