Nate and Brooke had been single for a bit when two of their friends both encouraged them to get on Bumble. Brooke refused to get on a dating app but Becca kept nudging her to get on it. She finally caved and created her profile on Saturday, October 30th 2021. On Sunday morning, this cute hunter came across her profile. Little did she know, that hunter was the best thing to ever come into her life. He was the first and only person Brooke talked to on the app. Their locations matched by him setting up his goose blind across the river, which he says Brooke can never complain about him hunting since that’s what brought them together. They talked on the phone every day that week for 3+ hours and had conversations that were endless. That Thursday, Nate got out of his apprenticeship class early and asked to come meet Brooke that night even though they had a date planned for the next day. He came and met Brooke and her parents at the same time because “a father should know the type of man that’s taking their daughter out”. They went on their first date that Friday at El Rancho Inn steak house and got some dessert at Ice Cream Emporium after because you know Brooke and her ice cream. After that night, they were exclusive ever since.

Let’s just say it was a HUGE surprise. Brooke had been wanting to get engaged just never knew when it was coming. Nate is such a jokester and puts on a good face so she knew she would never see it coming but that’s great because she wanted it to be a surprise. When Brooke got home on October 6th from work, Nate asked her if she wanted to go scout out a few hunting spots with him and his brother up north the next day. She asked where and he said up past Lake Almanor near Susanville. She told him that sounded absolutely awful and she didn’t want to go hahaha well next thing you know he wakes her up at 5 am on October 7th, and asks if she was ready to go. She said she didn’t want to go and wanted to sleep. He said “you have nothing better to do today. Why not spend some quality time?”She told him fine but he had to buy her Dutch Bros and give her a massage later (he hates giving massages). He said deal so she threw her hair up in a clip, threw on some comfy clothes and headed up north with his brother Jacob and his dog, Boone. As we got close to Lake Almanor, he stated we should go check out the property where Brooke’s family is building a cabin and see the progress. She agreed it was a good idea and stated that her dad needed something done up there so we could get that done for him. As we got to the property, Nate wanted to go check out the golf course that backs up to the property and asked his brother to take the dog to the bathroom. As we are up there, TMI, this rush of a feeling that Brooke was going to poop her pants came on her quick hahahahaha the Dutch bros got to her. She needed the keys ASAP to run to the bathroom down at the community beach. Little did she know they were in the middle of the whole plan to propose. Nate calls Jacob and asks for the keys. They are talking in code and told Jake to not bring the stuff. So they got Brooke the keys and she headed to the bathroom. They were like what the heck, she messed up our plan but it ended up working out better. As Brooke was coming back, Nate called to see where she was. She parked and he was up by the golf course and said look what I found. He was holding up a deer shed (antler) and stated that Boone had found it up there. She was like no way and he was like yea right up here. Brooke stated that they have to put that in the cabin once it’s built. That’s so cool. He brought it down and the ring was on it but Brooke didn’t see until he started grabbing it. She was in utter shock and pretty much blacked out!! It was the best surprise ever!! And of course we still went and checked out the hunting spots haha
