Q + A
Which airport should I fly into?
You should fly into Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX).
Where should I stay in Mexico City?
Details on recommended hotels and areas of the city can be found in the travel + lodging tab.
Can I bring kids/additional guests?
Please let us know if you wish to bring kids or additional guests. If you don't, we will not have food or seating available for them during the ceremony and dinner.
What should I wear?
Attire for the wedding is business casual or better.
Should I bring a gift?
No, gifts are not required. If you wish to give anything, cash is our preferred gift. We have a cash fund set up on the registry tab of this page. Any non-cash presents that you choose to give should be sent to our house in Houston.
What is the best way to get from the airport to the hotel?
For longer trips in the city, we recommend Uber.
Our Uber to and from the airport to the area of the ceremony was about $5 USD.
What is the best way to get to the wedding and other events?
We will be organizing shuttle services from the main hotel for the wedding ceremony, pyramids tour, and anthropology museum.
Should I bring cash for spending?
Mexico City accepts credit card at most establishments (restaurants, cafes, boutiques, etc.). However, we recommend that you do bring some Mexican Pesos along to use at street vendors or in case you find a store that doesn't accept card.
The exchange rate is very good, and things tend to be much cheaper than in the US. Make sure you take this into account when trying to determine how much you want to exchange and bring with you.
We exchanged ~$200 USD per person for a 7 day trip and that was a good amount.
What is the best way to get around the city?
Walking or Ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft are our preferred method of getting around the city.
Be aware that Mexico City is at an altitude if 7300 feet so you may feel it if breath more easily when walking.
Car rentals in Mexico require an additional insurance and are not recommended.
Should I be careful of what I eat and drink in Mexico City?
Yes. Tap water in Mexico is not potable; you should avoid eating raw or undercooked meat or fish, leafy greens, or raw vegetables. Restaurants can be trusted consistently for cooked foods.
What activities do you recommend in Mexico City?
Please take a look at the "Things to Do" tab of this website. We've added a number or restaurants and experiences that we've encountered on our trips to Mexico City.
