Flights

First, you'll be flying into Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH), a small, convenient, and friendly airport around 35 minutes by car to the little beach village of Troncones, Mexico. A few things to note: &gt; As our wedding is in shoulder season, airlines have been cutting back on direct flights; you may require one or even two connections to arrive here - we're really sorry about that, but promise to make it worth your while! &gt; If you connect through Mexico City (Benito Juarez International), especially if you're flying Aeromexico for the Mexico leg, you'll likely arrive and depart Terminal 2 - lucky you. Some airlines arrive at Terminal 1, then depart for domestic legs from Terminal 2 - if this is the case, you'll need take the Aerotrain between the terminals. Check the boards or ask! &gt; In general, Mexico City airport is unpleasant and unhelpful. You likely won't be assigned a gate until around an hour before your departure, and you may be delayed. Again, check the big boards, not the small ones, for latest info, and ask if you're unsure! Staff do speak some English, but French only at AirCanada / AirFrance. &gt; If the big board reads "Sala A", B, C, etc., these refer to waiting areas, and you may get a different gate number an hour before departure. &gt; If you do connect through Mexico City, you'll be funneled through immigration (migracion), and Customs (adjuana), before continuing on to your connecting gate. The agents are multilingual and friendly - no stress here. Just show your passport and tell 'em how long you're staying. They may ask the purpose, destination, etc. YOU DON'T NEED ANY SPECIAL VISA IF COMING FROM THE U.S., FRANCE, OR CANADA. They'll stamp your passport with a tourist entry stamp. If you're coming from France or Canada and transiting through the U.S., however, make sure you get an ESTA online before leaving! When you arrive at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, retrieve your bags and look for an ATM - there are a few in the airport. Just ask if you don't see them. Take out enough for a few days - ~4,000 pesos, or around $230 USD should be enough for taxis, meals, etc, for the weekend. (We'll be catering a couple meals, but you'll eat at local restaurants for others). More if you want souvenirs, tours, etc., or if you'll be staying longer. The ATMs seem to work with most all international credit and debit cards. Cash in hand, you can exit out the only doors.

Taxi

There will be a lot of white shirted guys outside - these are the official airport taxistas. Choose any one of the guys in the white shirts, just make sure you don't pay more than 1500 pesos (around $85 USD - sorry - try to split a cab). Tell them "a Troncones por favor." If you weren't able to get cash, make sure they take dollars before you get in, or we can pay for you when you arrive (just let us know). Once you're on the way, tell them Villas Troncones - they'll almost definitely know it. If not, tell them "dos casas mas alla (a-YA) de Present Moment Retreat", which is a well-known yoga studio on the beach road of Troncones. It's on the left side. That's it - you're here! You don't have to go anywhere else all weekend by car if you don't want to. If you do, more taxis are available in Troncones, and we can order one by text also anytime. There will be a couple of private cars available at the venue also.

Troncones

Troncones is a small community at the end of a paved road 3 km off Highway 200, just 35 minutes north of the resort town of Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Where the road hits the beach, you'll turn right on the Avenida de la Playa, and Villas Troncones is 750 meters down on the left (beach) side of the road. The entrance looks like this:

Troncones has a few small tiendas (shops) - including "mini supers" with basic groceries - and beachfront restaurants, small hotels, B&amp;B’s, and a variety of retreats from surfing to yoga.

We will be spending the entire weekend celebrating at Villas Troncones, from dinner on Friday, through the ceremony Saturday near sundown, to the brunch on Sunday. Villas Troncones is a compound of 10 beachfront villas, all arranged around a central swimming pool and located right on the beach. We wanted to gather you all in this space not only for the beautiful surroundings if offers, but also because we're able to accommodate 52 people (so, hopefully, all who want to come!). Once we know who is coming and staying, we will group folks into individual villas based on family alliances, language, ongoing vendettas, loves and hates, etcetera. Each of the lovely villas have multiple rooms with air conditioning, ceiling fans, individual kitchens, bathrooms, and ocean views! The all-included rate for a 3-night stay at Villas Troncones is $220 per person (children are free). This will also include three catered meals. Please let us know in the RSVP if you'd like to reserve a room!

Travel & Accommodation

The natural environment is one of the best attributes of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo. The crocodile reserve located in Playa Linda, Ixtapa, is also a good spot to watch iguanas, turtles, many birds and other species. Some years ago there was a man who fed these saurians; if you are lucky will see there Tamakún&nbsp;- the "Crocodile King". Birds like the roseate spoonbill, wood stork, chachalacas (a kind of Mexican hen), herons, parakeets and many others are present in this ecological reserve. During May to June you will see the newborn squabs are just growing their first feathers.

Crocodile reserve 

One of the longest lefts in the world and a renowned surf spot also known as Ubilam (Malibu in reverse)! Whether you are new at surfing or an experienced rider, La Saladita has a wave waiting for you! A great place to learn, there are lessons and rentals all over the beach here, and the wave is soft, consistent, and friendly, and there's tons of space to work on your popup near the shore.

A local farmer protects the population of iguanas of La Saladita. If you are an adept of big lizards, a tour of his garden is a must! You might even get to feed the beasts!
