Q + A

What weather should we expect in Troncones?

It'll be toasty! Expect temps to reach the low 90s F / 30s C during the day, with low 80s / 30 C at night. That said, all rooms are equipped with AC, and the pool + ocean will keep you fresh and sweat-free. Ocean water is quite warm. Make sure to bring light clothes, a couple bathing suits, and sun screen!

How much cash should I withdraw?

You could take out from 4,000 to 10,000 pesos ($220 USD to $550) to get you started, either at the airport, or at one of the two ATMs at the local mini supers in Troncones. If you need more, you can hit them up any time. In addition, most everywhere takes debit and / or credit cards around here. Make sure you tell your CC company that you'll be in Mexico during this time so they don't block your card!

How should I plan getting around?

Generally, taxis are the way to go here. They're cheap, safe, readily available, and can be ordered by text / WhatsApp in advance if you want as well. We or others at the wedding can help you book a taxi anytime, and / or can share their contacts and useful phrase or two with you :) Also, our and a couple friends' cars will be available for use throughout the weekend. You're welcome to rent a car at the airport as well. This would probably cost you around $60 USD / day. Let us know as we can get you a deal on this if you want.

What about our kiddos?

Glad you asked! We've got a little ankle biter of our own. We'll be contracting with a local nanny (or two) to watch the tikes at strategic intervals - please reach out if you might be interested in this!

Can I use my phone down there?

Depends on your plan. Verizon, AT&T, and Google Fi all work well down here. If you don't have international data, call, and text, you may be able to add a package for the week. If you only have data, you can get by down here with Wi-Fi calling. There is pretty good mobile signal and Wi-Fi at the venue. Another option is to buy a local SIM card for your phone to use while you're here. We can help you with this if you want - let us know!

Is it safe where we're going?

If you've watched Narcos, you are more likely to be asking yourself this question :) Fortunately, we've found this area to be safe, and more than that - the people to be extremely kind, warm, and welcoming. It's one of the reasons we spend so much time here. Things can happen anywhere of course - including and especially in the U.S., but things have been calm here in recent years, and we've never experienced crime here ourselves.

What's the food situation?

For our wedding weekend, we'll have three meals catered at the venue. Outside those, we are walking distance to a number of lovely restaurants and cafes in Troncones where you can find great Italian, Mexican, Thai, cofee and pastries, and other good stuff. There are also kitchens in the units if you'd like to buy some things to cook at your villa from one of the mini-supers!

Do we need a visa to enter Mexico?

Short answer is no - whether you're coming from the U.S., Canada, or France, you will not need any special visa to enter Mexico. Once you land in either Mexico City or Zihua and proceed through immigration, they'll stamp your passport with a tourist visa stamp good for up to 6 month (but they'll specify for how long, may be less). HOWEVER - note that if you're transiting through the U.S. and are not a national, you will need to apply for an ESTA online prior to leaving your home country!
