Love At First Swipe

It all began with a swipe. He likes to say she left him hanging, unresponsive for hours. She likes to say that she was a strong, independent woman and had notifications turned off on her dating apps. Either way, after their first date, on February 6, 2020, the rest was history. They were soulmates. Being a new relationship at the start of COVID, their relationship progressed quickly. The world was essentially on lock down; restaurants, bars and theatres were closed. Social distancing was in full force. So they spent hours talking - in person, texting, on the phone. Date nights were intimate and without social distraction. Just her &amp; him. They binge watched episodes of “The Office” and the more they laughed together, the more she realized that she had found the Jim to her Pam. He tricked her into saying ‘I love you first’. He was walking her out to her car and was teasing her, as per usual. He said “oh, you know you love me” and she responded “of course I love you” … to which he said NOTHING. CRICKETS. She got into her car and essentially had a panic attack. She had known for months that she had been in love with him, but even when she got drunk at his grad party AND her grad party, she was able to hold it in! She panicked until she saw him again the next day when she couldn’t take it anymore and called him out on it. He looked at her so innocently and said, “didn’t I say it back? … I said it in my head”. Then he grabbed her, kissed her and said, “Baby, I love you too.” And from then on, they were, as he liked to call it, “Locked In”. Soon after they were living together, and then their little family grew by one when he bought her their baby Winnie. For years they laughed, loved and built a life together, just the three of them. Then, on May 5, 2023, in Banff next to a waterfall, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. And of course, she said yes (although he likes to remind her that she made him ask twice because she didn’t respond the first time. Can you blame a girl? She was in shock - and she kissed him, which she said counted as a yes). Stay tuned; on June, 7, 2025, the love story continues when he becomes her husband and she becomes his wife, and the next chapter of their forever begins.

Britt has been one of my best friends since high school! We bonded over our shared love for true crime docs, wine and a slight obsession with books. Britt is honestly one of the most loyal and genuine people I know and I am so blessed to have a bestie like her. She is also hilarious and has a knack for detective skills, which has been a real asset for our gossip chats. Britt was the first of us to get married and I was so honoured to get to stand by her on her wedding day, and I am so happy that she will be standing by me for mine! I love you Best!

Brittany Doyle

Rebecca has been one of my besties since junior high. We bonded over our love for theatre and felt like we were such similar people we were basically like .. brothers? Don’t ask, it’s been so long I don’t remember our reasoning. But we are family. Rebecca is one of the kindest people I know and honestly I feel so lucky that I can call such an amazing and talented person my best friend. Thank you for being such a light and positive influence in my life. I don’t know what I would do without you. I love you Bro!

Shianne has been my bestie since grade 1! I don’t remember what we bonded over because I don’t remember a time where we were ever not friends. I’m pretty sure I had my first sleepover at her house!  Shianne is one of the smartest and funniest people I know and my life has been so much more entertaining because of our friendship. Shianne is such a reliable person and I know I can count on her for absolutely anything. Shianne and I are most famous for painting the cupboard-under-the-stairs in my parent’s house a Harry Potter Themed Hangout, which was THE coolest party spot back in the day. I hope everyone has a friend like Shianne because she has made my life so amazing. I love you Ray!

Keri has also been a bestie of mine since junior high. Ker is our famous talented bestie who travels the seas sharing her amazing voice with the world. We don’t get to see each other very often, but when we do get to spend time together it is always so special! Even when Ker is half way across the world, she still is such a caring and thoughtful friend. She never fails to put a smile on my face and I hope she knows how special she is to me! She is also hilarious - we wrote a speech for Britt’s wedding while we were driving to Kelowna and we laughed so hard I literally thought we would die! I love you so much Gus! Thank you for the years of laughter and memories and for making me feel so loved! Keri is one of a kind and I hope everyone gets to experience a friendship like the one we have!

Keri Kelly

Andrea has also been my bestie since grade 1 and I also don’t remember a time when I wasn’t best friends with her! Ang is hands down one of the funniest people I know. Her personality is a superpower; I can talk to her on one of my worst days and she always manages to put a smile on my face.  We weren’t even allowed to sit beside each other in drama class because all we had to do was look at each other and we would burst out laughing. We also basically lived at each other’s houses - I went to drop something off at her parent’s house once and ended up staying for over 24 hours (oops!). I have had a lifetime of laughs and memories because of my friendship with Ang; friends like her are good for your soul and I am so lucky to have her in my corner. I love you Ang!

Andrea Perry

Matt has been one of my best friends since our first year at MacEwan University! We first came across each other in our intro psych course. At the time we both thought the opposite was a complete weirdo (at least that’s what Matt will tell everyone). We finally became friends during our second semester after Matt decided to tell me his whole life story. We bonded over our similar interests in psychology, movies, and video games. Our friendship flourished over the years that followed. Matt is one of the most genuine, smart and down to earth guys I know.  He recently became a father for the first time and the running joke is I have become the granddad to his son Oliver (ask Alora or his wife Alyssa for the blooper reel). I am so happy to have him standing next to me on my special day.

Matthew Deutscher

Josh has been one of my go to friends since our first year together on the same landscaping crew. Since this was my first ever job, Josh was able to take me under his wing and show me the ropes. We bonded over the many years we worked together; I basically saw Josh more then I saw anyone else in my life at that time. Through the countless years together we have built crazy backyards, laughed about stupid things, played soccer together, and we have had countless beers. I can say without a doubt, I would not have enjoyed my landscaping days without him next to me everyday! I am so excited to have him standing next to me on my wedding day. Thanks for all the laughs and beers, man!

Josh Campeau

Eric has been one of my close friends since Alora introduced me to him during our first couple of months dating. We have bonded overs the years with double dates and patio beers. We also share a passion and talent for carpentry and are always happy to crack a beer and talk shop. Eric is basically family, especially growing up since birth with Alora. We’ve shared a lot of laughs over the years and I am proud to have him standing next to me on my special day, it’s like having a little brother up there with me.

Thomas has been a good friend of mine since I met him and the rest of Alora’s coworker friends also known as the “Finer Things Club” . We have had tons of laughs at the expense of Alora’s and Thomas’s Ex Boss. We have bonded over our hatred of him and our interests in board games and poker. Thomas is definitely a card shark! Do not invite him to a poker night unless you want to lose all your money! I am excited to have you stand next to me even though I can never beat you!

My man Dave goes by many names, but he loves it when you call him Big Poppa! Dave and I grew up living four houses apart and we even had the same piano teacher! We have done many a theatre production together and have done many NYC trips. Dave is immensely talented, but most importantly, he’s a great friend. He’s a guy that can make you laugh so hard you cry, but also a guy who you can talk to about anything. I’m so blessed to have a friend like Dave. I love you Big Poppa!

David Jeffery

Nicky and I have known each other since grade one- although we thought we hated each other (we don’t remember why) so we didn’t really establish our friendship until grade five. Since then, Nick has been like a brother to me, and I spent so much time at the Kush household I felt like an honorary Kush. We have also done many a threader production and NYC trip together and Nick can also make me laugh until I cry. I couldn’t think of anyone better to have MC our wedding. I love you Nicky!

For our guests travelling from out of town, we have rooms blocked off at the Wyndham Garden Edmonton Airport Hotel in Leduc, Alberta. The Hotel provides shuttle service from the venue to the hotel; for those guests who would like to use the shuttle service, the last shuttle leaves at 1 am. Please call directly to book and let them know it is for Alora &amp; Bryton’s Wedding or the Cordeiro Wedding.

The Whitewood Barn is located near Leduc, and there are other hotels available in addition to the one we have recommended. There are also AirBnB options as well and other alternate accommodation options for guests. Taxi service and Ubers will also be available transportation options for guests.

There is a huge outlet mall in Leduc that would be great for an afternoon of shopping! There are some local vendors located in the mall as well.
