The beginning of 2022 and Alyssa had just moved back to Iowa from Florida and started a job at Innovations, and Caleb had just gotten hired at the sheriff's office. Caleb needed a haircut and went to innovations for the first time and met Alyssa. They made small talk but nothing big. A couple of weeks after that, the two recognized each other on Tinder, even though Alyssa didn't even remember she had cut Caleb's hair, and both swiped right. Caleb and Alyssa started to build a connection and went on their first date. They talked for hours over dinner and eventually just drove around, continuing to talk about anything and everything they could as they drove from river to stream to water pit. Alyssa loved water. The night had to end, but it was only two days later that they went on their second date and ended up dancing in the woods next to a stream. Caleb and Alyssa both knew they had something special and talked about each other to all the important people in their lives. Caleb and Alyssa spent the next 2 years getting closer, moving in, taking trips, finding their favorite restaurant, Ciao Bella, and eventually buying a house together. On April 8th 2024, Alyssa and Caleb had decided a few months prior that they were going to drive down to Missouri to go and see a total eclipse, a near once or twice in a lifetime event to see. Caleb and Alyssa found a pasture in the middle of nowhere Missouri, right on the line of the total solar eclipse with no one else around. The two of them waited around watching Drake and Josh in their car for 3 hours for the eclipse to start. As the eclipse started, they set out a blanket and picnic snacks and waited and watched. All the birds started getting quiet and insects loud as the sky got darker and darker. At 1:58 PM, when the sun was completely behind the moon and all animals and insects were silent, Caleb got down on one knee, opened a ring box made from Alyssa's childhood favorite tree, and asked Alyssa if she would marry him! Alyssa said YES! Now Alyssa and Caleb are planning a wedding and asking all of their closest friends and family to join them in celebrating their love and this story will now continue on through marriage.
